Wylie is a well-trained dog who can perform several commands such as sitting, lying down, staying, and healing on command. He weighs 26 lbs and is a Belgian Malinois mixed with a smaller herding dog, possibly a red healer. His owner spent $1500 on his training. Wylie is neutered, potty and crate-trained. He follows commands extremely well and is the most well-trained dog that I have ever met.
Wylie has high energy and needs someone who can run him every day, take him to the dog park, or has land where he can run. A simple walk will not suffice.
Wylie does not like to be mounted by other male dogs, and he reacts when they do so. However, once dominance has been established, he can get along with other male dogs. Intact male dogs seem to agitate him the most, and he doesn't like them near his hind end. The new owner or foster needs to be confident enough and have knowledge of dog behaviors to be successful with him.
Sadly, Wylie's owner had a massive stroke and is unable to care for him anymore. She would never choose to give him up, but circumstances have changed. If we could find someone to foster Wylie during the recovery process, that would be ideal, but recovery may take 18 months. I met his owner at the dog park and take him to the dog park every night as well. He is socialized, but he is very "alpha." If you correct him, he does listen. Wylie is a great dog and wants to please the people in his life.
