Well our final trial of 2023 is in the books after finishing up the GSP of Central Iowa trial.
First I would like to congratulate my dad, Larry, and Joey (Outbak’s How You Doin?) on winning the Amateur Gun Dog. This 3 point major with a retrieve should finish Joey as a Field Champion.
Logan was the other winner of the weekend getting 1st in the Open Derby and 2nd in the open Puppy.
Alice placed this weekend as well with a 2nd in the Amateur Walking Puppy and two 3rds in the Open Puppy and Open Derby.
Maggie (Bannfshire’s Maggie Mayhem) finished with a 3rd in the Amateur Walking Puppy and 4th in the Open Derby, competing very well with all of the shorthairs out there.
Hattie also competed in the first hour championship of her young career. While not getting a placement, she was able to make it around clean for the full hour with a find.

We earned one win this weekend in central Iowa, but we came away with placements in 6 of our 10 runs so it was a pretty good weekend.
Alice as usual was the winner for us in the Derby on Sunday (she got 2nd in the Derby and 3rd in the puppy on Saturday).
Logan got 2nd in the Puppy on Saturday and 4th on Sunday. He found a lot of birds on Sunday and had a very nice broke covey find (his 4th find in 15 minutes).
Hattie made it around both days in the Open Gun Dog getting 3rd on Saturday and coming up just short of placements on Sunday. She had multiple finds on both days, with a covey find on each day.
Thank you to the judges Dawn and Joe Droel, Dr. John Holcomb, Randy Caldwell, Jeff Wallace, and Justin Hess. And biggest thank you to Jeff for putting on a well run trial as always.

Another good weekend for the Red, White, & Blue crew. We came home with 3 blues last weekend in Nebraska.
Logan got his first blue with a win in the Open Derby. His sister Alice got the blue for a second trial in a row in the Open Puppy, Maggie (the Gordon) gave her a run for her money in the puppy but came up a close 2nd, she had us off the castoff, but Alice had a strong finish.
Joey (Outbak’s How You Doin?) got his first blue of the season as well with a win in the Amateur All Age. Hattie couldn’t be left out with a 3rd in the Amateur Gun Dog, she had a nice race and her best callback to date where she stayed perfectly broke and retrieved the first chukar she’s ever picked up.

Hattie and the kids had a good first trial of the fall at the CWVC trial in Portage, WI. Hattie took 2nd in the Amateur Gun Dog and 4th in the Open Limited. Alice took first in the Open Puppy while Logan was a close second to his sister.
All three have come a long way since this spring with the kids being much more independent at just over 10 months old and Hattie going through her first callback situation.
