These orphaned baby squirrels were brought to me yesterday after a landscaper found their nest that fell during a storm. If you find a squirrels nest, or any other nests, contact a wildlife rehabilitator immediately and if possible, do not disturb the nest or touch them. Many times they can be reunited with their mothers if they are left alone and you continue to observe their nest from a distance. A wildlife rehabilitator will guide you on what is needed and/or if they should be brought to them immediately. Do not feed them, especially with cows milk, as it will cause harm to them or possible death. If you need to touch them, wear gloves or any other soft materials. Mothers will not abandon them if they have a human scent on them. Thank you for helping any critters you encounter that are orphaned or injured and for contacting a NH wildlife rehabilitator.

If you locate any orphaned wildlife, please avoid feeding them, including cows milk or other formulas. Each species requires a specialized formula and an improper diet will cause serious health issues. Immediately contacting a wildlife rehabilitator gives them the best chance of survival. We will guide you on providing the necessary care until they are transported to rehabilitator.

To avoid bear activity on your property, now is the time to bring in bird feeders.

Wildlife Tip: Birds feed their young a variety of insects and caterpillars and planting milkweed, or plants that attract butterflies, will provide them a healthy food source. These plants also draw birds to nest in these areas.
