QUIZ TIME!!! Picture was taken in Louisiana @ Rockafeller Wildlife Refuge in brackish water. Answer will be posted tomorrow morning to allow everyone a chance to guess.

Answer time:

This is a Western ribbon snake (Thamnophis proximus)
Ribbons are a semi aquatic species of garter snake found in Louisiana.
We also have the larger Eastern garter snake that's not considered aquatic and more commonly found in fields and wooded areas.
They look similar but play different roles in our environment.
I will attach pictures in the comments to tell the difference, they are non venomous and harmless to humans and pets.

The Argentine black and white tegu (Salvator merianae) is a large species of lizard in the family Teiidae. The species is the largest of the "tegu lizards". This species is popular as pets because it has unusually high intelligence and can also be house-broken. It is the only known reptile to be partly endothermic (warm blooded).

Rango the Thai water dragon (Physignathus cocincinus). He is now listed as threatened in the wild and on the CITES list for import. This means we will see them less and less. As now only those already in the USA can be bred and sold. He is fairly young so he will definitely be around for educational purposes with the rescue for the foreseeable future 🦎❤️

If you happen to be in need of local feeders I highly recommend Hudson Creek Farms . They raise quail, rabbits, ducks, chickens, pigs etc. They cater to a few local reptile keepers so are up to par with weights, live and frozen practices. Great family to deal with located locally.

Kingsnakes can make some very popular and charismatic pets, but what makes them “king?” This part of their common name refers to their tendency to eat other snakes when the opportunity presents itself. Kingsnakes are known to eat rodents, lizards, birds, and eggs, as well as other snakes, including venomous snakes.

In biological and ecological terms, the kingsnake’s habit of eating other snakes can be referred to as “intraguild predation,” because it is the killing and eating of potential competitors (species that may rely upon the same prey resources). Interestingly, kingsnakes, non-venomous constrictors themselves, are often preying upon other constrictor species of snakes. What is it about these constrictors that makes them such effective predators of other constrictors?

As it turns out, researchers have found that kingsnakes can exert higher constriction pressure on their prey than ratsnakes. This is attributed to kingsnakes’ very distinctive constriction posture.
