Things are SO much better when the puppies are old enough to go outside to do their business! They’ve all got the steps mastered and love being outside to explore and run ❤️

Fireworks/gunshots/loud noises don’t have to be scary for dogs. An ounce of prevention goes a long way. The startle and recovery response seen in Red’s puppies is exactly what we want at this age. They obviously hear the fireworks, but then go back to their business without fear. Dixie’s puppies just slept right through the noise. We did this 2 consecutive nights and had great responses both times.

Had a Nashville themed BarkBox and it was fun including them in the new puppy setup. This is the 3rd full setup so that the puppies can all be rotated. This new area is also very easily expandable to accommodate the activity center that will be assembled this week!

It is AMAZING that puppies just 2.5 weeks old already have the instincts to lay the foundation for potty training as soon as they can walk! Red’s puppies did a fantastic job today toddling over to the bathroom side of the box to relieve themselves before returning to the sleeping/playing side. The bathroom area starts out large at 1/2-2/3 of the space. As they become more practiced it will end up being about 1/4 of the total space.

It feels like a hard won 2 weeks with the initial eating strike the mamas went on, but we’ve definitely found the groove now. We’ve been doing early neurological stimulation with the puppies along with daily handling/cuddling and nail trimming every few days. Next weekend our families with reservations will be picking which pups will be their new furbabies!

I couldn’t handle Lady’s out of control face for a minute longer! Now one less thing to keep me up at night 😆 I love that poodles have boundless versatility of their coat styles. You can try just about anything and it grows back if you don’t end up liking it 🥰 That’s even before getting into interesting dye patterns (too advanced for me, but I’ve seen some amazing ones especially around Halloween)

Dixie and Red have had their puppies! Both went into labor on Friday May17th, Dixie started at 4 a.m. and Red finished up at 10 p.m. It was quite a day! Both mommas have been settling in. This is new for Dixie, but she is doing very well mothering her 5 precious babies. Red has fallen right into step and has 11 sweet red babies. The puppies LOVED the time they got to be outside on the beautiful day we had today!

The puppies are loving the activity cube. We added in a grate to walk on for something new to feel. It’s a bit difficult to get incognito footage so please excuse the poor angles!
