Meet the Staff Monday! Meet Denise Branecky, DVM, CVA, IVCA, CERPM.
Dr. Denise Branecky grew up in Newtown, Connecticut where she was introduced to horses and riding at a young age through her mom’s love of horses. In high school, her love of science and horses inspired her to pursue shadowing a local equine veterinary practice where she fell in love with equine ambulatory medicine.
After high school, Dr. Branecky headed south and attended Clemson University for her undergraduate career, where she competed on the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association team during all four years. She graduated magna cm laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal and Veterinary Sciences.
After her time in the south, Dr. Branecky re-entered the cold of the northeast to attend veterinary school at Cornell University. While in school she became president of the student chapter of the American Association of Equine Practitioners as well as working as a technician in the large animal hospital.
Following graduation, Dr. Branecky completed an equine rotating internship at Rhinebeck Equine in New York where she gained experience in surgery, medicine and general ambulatory practice.
In 2017, Dr. Branecky joined Fairfield Equine Associates, an equine sports medicine practice in Connecticut, where she had spent time both shadowing and working as a veterinary technician prior to veterinary school. As an associate, she furthered her lameness skills and became certified in veterinary acupuncture at Chi University in 2021. Her professional interests include sports medicine, acupuncture, and chiropractic.
Dr. Branecky moved to Colorado to join the Front Range Equine Performance team in 2022 to further her career in sports medicine, rehabilitation and alternative therapies. She is currently a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, International Society of Locomotor Pathology and an FEI treating veterinarian.
Dr. Branecky is excited to pursue all that Colorado has to offer, especially skiing and hiking and has two support cats, Timmy and Kaia.

We would like to introduce the EquibandĀ® Pro System, a key component of our rehabilitation program. It plays an essential role in both our daily hand-walking sessions and water treadmill treatments.
The EquibandĀ® Pro System uses strategically placed, non-latex bands to provide stimulation to the receptors in the horse’s skin and hair follicles. One band crosses under the horse’s abdomen while the other sits behind the horse’s hindquarters. In response to the stimulation that the bands provide, horses activate their abdominal, oblique, sublumbar, and deep neck and back muscles. This helps engage the hindquarters and stabilize the horse’s spine, effectively strengthening the horse’s core and postural musculature.
For more information or to find out how to purchase your own EquibandĀ® Pro System, contact our office at [email protected] or call us at (970) 368-3125.

Please join us in welcoming our new office manager, Patty! Patty was born and raised in Colorado, and her lifelong passion for horses began in early childhood. Her love for animals of all kinds has always been a driving force in her life. At around nine years old, she acquired her first horse and joined 4-H, further cultivating her interest in all things equine.
As a young girl, Patty aspired to be a veterinarian, but life led her to human medicine instead. She worked her way through nursing school and dedicated over 20 years to critical care as a registered nurse. Her experience includes surgical/neuro, medical, and cardiac ICU, emergency department, PACU, and flight nursing on a medical helicopter.
Seeking new career paths, she transitioned from nursing to veterinary assistance and customer service at a small animal facility. For seven years, she found this work challenging and fulfilling, as she enjoys continuously learning, the science of medicine, and assisting others with their health.
Caring for others has been a constant theme throughout Patty's life. She feels truly blessed to join our amazing team. She looks forward to growing and thriving as she connects with others who share her passion for horses.
Outside of work, Patty enjoys spending time at home with her family, visiting her grandkids, gardening, and caring for her diverse collection of horses, cows, goats, chickens, cats, and dogs.
Welcome to the team, Patty! We are so lucky to have you!

What are ProVetā„¢ and ProStride?
Dechra’s ProVetā„¢ and Zoetis’ ProStride systems are cutting-edge regenerative therapies that use your horse’s own blood to create a powerful healing product called Autologous Protein Concentrate (APC). These systems combine the healing powers of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), IRAP, and leukocytes (white blood cells), forming a super-charged mix known as Leukocyte Rich Platelet Rich Plasma (LR-PRP). This unique formula is packed with a higher concentration of growth factors and cytokines, key players in stimulating tissue regeneration and healing.
So, what does that mean for your horse? These treatments can significantly enhance the healing of soft tissue injuries and can even help manage osteoarthritis (joint degeneration) by promoting cell function and tissue regeneration more effectively than older PRP systems.

How Does It Work?
Just like IRAP, ProVetā„¢ and ProStride begin with blood drawn from your horse. The blood is then processed through a specialized centrifuge system stall-side, so the entire process can happen the same day—no need for multiple trips to the clinic. The biggest difference between the two systems is the amount of product each kit produces, meaning the choice will depend on how much your horse needs.
Since this therapy uses autologous (from the same animal) material, it's extremely safe—perfect for horses with conditions like Cushing’s Disease (PPID) or metabolic issues that can complicate other treatments.

In Short:
Both ProVetā„¢ and ProStride offer cutting-edge, biologic therapy that harnesses the healing potential of your horse’s own blood, delivering superior results for soft tissue injuries and joint issues like arthritis. They’re safe, effective, and tailored to your horse’s needs, helping them get back to feeling their best faster!

Equine chiropractic care is all about helping your horse feel its best by addressing issues with its spine and musculoskeletal system. Much like humans, horses can experience misalignments or restrictions in their joints and spine, which can affect their overall movement, comfort, and performance. Through gentle spinal adjustments, a certified equine chiropractor works to realign your horse’s body, improving mobility, reducing pain, and promoting faster recovery from injuries.
But why should you consider it for your horse? Here’s a quick rundown of some of the benefits:
✨ Improved Posture: Helps your horse stand and move more naturally, which can lead to better performance.
✨ Enhanced Athletic Performance: Just like in humans, a properly aligned body means better range of motion, power, and endurance.
✨ Reduced Muscle and Joint Stress: Chiropractic care can help relieve tension and prevent Look out for these signs that may indicate your horse could benefit from a chiropractic adjustment:
šŸ‘‰ Changes in Behavior – If your horse becomes reluctant to work, is more sensitive during saddling, or shows unusual signs of discomfort, it might be a sign that something’s off.
šŸ‘‰ Decline in Performance – A decrease in speed, agility, or stamina could be due to a misalignment affecting movement or muscle function.
šŸ‘‰ Uneven Hoof Wear – When your horse's hooves wear down unevenly, it can indicate imbalances in their body, often caused by spinal issues.
šŸ‘‰ Post-Exercise Stiffness – Horses that seem stiff or sore after exercise may have muscle tension or joint restrictions that could be eased through chiropractic care.
šŸ‘‰ Difficulty with Transitions – Struggling to pick up leads, change gaits, or perform other movements may indicate discomfort or alignment problems.
šŸ‘‰ Uneven Muscle Development – If you notice one side of your horse is more muscular than the other, this can be a sign of compensating for misalignment.
šŸ‘‰ Sensitivity to Touch – If your horse is sensitive to being touched in specific areas (especially along the back, neck, or hips), it may signal discomfort or muscle tightness.
If any of these symptoms sound familiar, or if you're just curious to learn more about how chiropractic care can improve your horse’s health, we’d love to chat with you! Please reach out to us today at (970)-368-3125 or at [email protected]
