We breed our retrievers for health and temperament. Health tested parents. AKC registered. We focus on the working dog.

Our goldens are raised in our home where they are well socialized and can start forming good manners. We are selective in our breedings, choosing only dogs that have gained their health clearances through the OFA and other organizations such as Optigen. Our studs are selected for their health, and their ability to perform. Most commonly the stud dogs we use in our program compete in hunt tests and

field trials. Our girls are first and foremost our beloved pets, we do train and compete in rally and agility. Our dogs have beautiful deep red coats that are lightly feathered, they are truly drip dry dogs. Our dogs have high drive and really want a job to do. They have high energy requirements but are lovable, relaxed house pets with proper exercise. Our dogs are very intelligent and can be trained for any type of work. We have several that work as therapy dogs, many are hunting companions, one competes in tracking events. These dogs enjoy learning and working with their humans. We are not a kennel, we do not have a "facility" our girls live in our home with us and have free access indoors & out. We only breed each female twice so our litters are infrequent. First hike without Gracie. She was my partner. We had the same speed and she always checked in with me. My other 2, Cash & Gemma love running, so I hardly see them on our hikes. They take off and come back to check in once in awhile.
I really miss my buddy. She would have loved this one.

Last Friday we unexpectedly had to say goodbye to our girl Gracie. She was always the sweetest and most easy going girl. That's one of the reasons her registered name was "Anything Goes Gracie". We were together for just over 14 years, from the moment she was born right next to me, to the moment she left this earth. 14 years is a wonderfully long life for a golden but it still doesn't feel like enough.
Gracie was happy and spry and seemingly healthy right up until the end. The day we lost her she did over a mile in the woods with me and the other dogs. It was her favorite thing. But I knew something wasn't right and at her vet visit later in the day they confirmed my suspicions. She had formed very rapidly, a tumor on her spleen. It had not been there 6 months ago at her check up. We weren't going to let her suffer just so we selfishly could keep her with us. We had to say goodbye. No bad days.
We really miss her. She lived in 4 different homes with us, raised our babies with us, helped us raise almost 150 golden pups, was with me every step of each new business I started and said goodbye to. In all 14 years we only spent about 20 nights apart.

Chief tried dock diving for the first time Sunday.
He loves the water!
He had fun and jumped just over 13ft.

We had fun cheering on Echo yesterday at Seacoast DockDogs up at Sunday River.
Shewas a little hesitant her first jump but her second jump she had a lot of fun.
Way to go Echo!!

If you're headed up there today keep an eye out, she might be jumping today too.

**update**
Unfortunately Lucy isn't pregnant. We just had too many obstacles during the breeding that we didn't overcome. I was really hopeful for just a few pups, or a small litter would come through .

Just an update on the Crue x Lucy litter we had planned to try and make happen last week.
It is quite likely the insemination will produce a very small litter, if any. 😔
Unfortunately, the odds were stacked against us from the get-go with the holiday weekend. We had no way to check progesterone levels during the time I expected ovulation, and shipping was delayed due to the holiday. We tried to be proactive and ship ahead of time and FedEx didn't follow through with expected shipping times.
We were unable to perform the second insemination as expected.

I will have an ultrasound performed in early October to see if we can expect any pups.

I am still planning to breed Lainey as soon as she comes into season. Lainey is my most unroutine dog (ever) and I truly have no idea when she will be ready. Obviously I am hoping soon.

Chief & Gemma had their first Fast CAT test today.
❤️They LOVED it!!❤️
✨️Both dogs qualified both runs.✨️
Chief ran 25 mph and Gemma 24 mph
They sprinted 100 yards in roughly 8.1, & 8.2 seconds respectively.

Breeding will take place sometime over the next week via insemination. Crue lives in Texas and Lucy here in Maine. 🌲

Wishing my best girl a HAPPY BIRTHDAY today. Not just any birthday, but her 14th birthday!! The oldest golden I've ever owned by 3 months. Her mother Heidi almost made 14.

Hotshots Anything Goes Gracie RE CGC CCA really is up for anything. She's my best hiking partner, beach bum, co-pilot, walking pal. We've done lots of classes together and she loves it all. She just wants to do whatever I decide we're going to try. We've taken classes in Rally, obedience, agility, tracking, tricks, manners, she gives her all at each.

Since the day Gracie was born to today, her 14th birthday, I can count the number of nights we've been apart and it's less than 20. She's my shadow.

Gracie was born in a litter of 10 pups. To my knowledge she is the last one. One pup was taken home and sadly I never heard from them again (Bryce).
In 2024 3 of her littermates passed. In 2023 2 of her littermates passed, and in 2022 she lost one. 2 passed in 2019 of suspected autoimmune disease. 7 out of 10 pups lived to age 12 or above (maybe 8/10 I don't know what happened to Bryce)

At 14 Gracie still puts on about an hour in the woods everyday, she loves boat rides and car rides, and although she can still jump in the back of the car I try to always pick her up now. She jumps in circles when she knows it's time for our walk, and she remembers all her tricks and loves to practice rally on the lawn. She can't see 100% and she can't hear very well but she's my best girl and I'm so grateful to have her in such wonderful health at age 14.

Echo has pep in her step today. The infection is gone and the dead mammary gland is gone. Now she just needs to heal up. The vet thinks in about 10-14 days she should look close to "normal".
