Several times a year, the Arboretum hosts Dog Admission Days and Tails on the Trails events. These are the only times that nonservice dogs are allowed in cars or on the grounds of the Arboretum.

Great news: we're renovating our kennels! 🐶
Bad news: our dogs have no place to go! Do you think a lucky pup can crash with you for a little while? 🛋️

In order to update our kennels as quickly and safely as possible, our dogs need to be with a loving foster family during construction. 🏡

✨ Leonberger?! ✨
This giant pup originated from Leonberg, Germany.
Leonbergers were created as working dogs.
They are said to of come from Newfoundland, St Bernard, and a backcross to a Pyrenean Mountain Dog.

They look very majestic; the creator, Heinrich Essig was trying to create an impressive large dog. They were found in royal Palaces.
Napoleon III and the Price of Wales, King Edward III, and Tzar Alexander II, rumored had Leonbergers!

Personality:
Loving giants but every breed will require socialization.

Energy:
Athletic, enjoy hiking & have been known to pull carts!

Grooming:
They are a double coated long haired breed that sheds a lot! They require a weekly brushing(focusing behind the ears for Matts) and they recommend trimming them up often!
