No not a Christmas Goose but a beautiful Christmas Muscovy duck 🦆Thank you Georgia Croft for noticing her and DEC Officer Andrew McCormick for taking the time to catch a domestic duck ( not wildlife) and delivering her to us at Willowswings. She is fed , safe and will rest comfortably tonight .
A bit of rainy day fun. Shadow has met his match. Tomorrow this be extra fun in the snow …..
On the 7th day of our Christmas countdown we are featuring Teddy! Teddy is a sulcata tortoise that was found wondering by himself. No one claimed him and Willowswings accepted him into the sanctuary. These tortoises live over 75 yrs and can weight up to 150 pds . Teddy enjoys summers outside and winters on a heated f run during the colder months . He eats 4 heads of romaine aday along with shredded carrots and a tortoise complete pellet . He also requires free choice hay to complete his naturally grazing diet . UV and basking lights are required to keep him healthy when natural sunlight is not available.
The Thanksgiving holiday is soon approaching. We will take the time to be grateful for both the large and small things that make up our lifes journey. Here at Willow‘s wings we are always truly grateful to be blessed to be able to offer a safe haven to over 100 special needs animals. We are a sanctuary filled with LOVE 💕, We offer animals in need medical care, therapy and a safe place for them to heal.
These animals have been abandoned, abused and labeled unadoptable. Their lives no longer are seen to have any value and are now discarded and disposable.
Please take a moment to remember the journey of our sweet boy Nick. Paralyzed from a car injury his spine is TOTALLY SEVERED! How is he even alive ?
He came to us in 2017 as a paralyzed Texas pup. His long term prognosis was grim. He was not expected to even live ….
Love, kindness, therapy (no surgery could ever fix this) and one of the many miracles that can happen when you believe that they can !!!
Here, almost 8 years later Nick is still getting around in his own special way. Nick knows that we believe that his life does matter. Please consider a donation this giving Tuesday so we can keep giving sanctuary, therapy medical care and LOVE to those animals who have nothing left in their lives, but have the courage and determination to find a way and go on living. Each and every life is precious to us. Please help us on this upcoming Giving Tuesday December 3rd to give them that opportunity.

Pumpkin practicing how to walk again ….
Shadow update. Leg is healed and strengthening every day . We will soon be searching for a forever home for him . In order to insure he remain mobile we are screening applicants throughly . You must have a fenced yard ( like his full size cousins husky/ malamute) he is HIGH ENERGY!!!! He is also prey driven and has no desire at this point to learn recall . He needs a buddy ( not human ) to play with to release some of that energy ….and finally he is a barker ….he has a LOUD, HIGH PITCH BARK that he can/ will protest with. He has only 1 useable hind leg and that MUST be pampered ( no cross country mountain climbing ) …we have invested a lot of time and money in his mobility rehabilitation and will place him in a home that will understand and protect that ….please private message us if you are interested in adopting….
One year ago Sept 2 . Brandi arrived at Willowswings as a paralyzed Frenchie . During this year we have had MANY ups and downs . She developed Pyometra ( a deadly uterine infection from not being spayed ) she had emergency surgery to save her . She developed 3 serious UTI ‘s that were antibiotic resistant and required injectable antibiotics / with sub Q to flush the kidneys . We have tried a wheelchair ( she hates ) water therapy ( she hated the water ) and acupuncture will little success . I have gone back to the basics as I did with Parsa 9 years ago . She seem to say “ OK Mom, I walk for you now !” We have a LONG road ahead but I know I finally am winning this challenge she has decided I needed ! Love you sweet Brandi 💕💕💕💕. I was not giving up on you !
Morning walk with shadow he’s doing great using that leg two more weeks. Great rest therapy and then the pins come out.. can’t be soon enough for him!
While out on Shadows 5 min exercise walk we encountered the drafts …. Shadow has no idea that his 10 lbs is no match for any one of those 2000 pds of Belgians. Definitely a case of little dog syndrome…🐕🐴💕
