I 100% support this message, but still remember there is a breed standard which speaks to a breeds temperament for a reason. Certain breeds produce dogs that are prone to certain aggressions, so when reading this message, don’t forget that.

The "bulletproof breed"

People seem to have the misconception that getting a certain breed or mix of dog, ensures that they will be a "good dog"...

That's not always the case...
I'd like to use these 3 dogs as my example...
The dog on the left came to me at 4 months old, terrified of people, and pretty much everything. It took me 3 weeks just be be able to touch him... if you even looked at him, he would p*e himself...
Dog in the middle, came to me at approx 2 years old, huge dog, dangerous dog... he would violently snap and go in kill mode towards human or animal... he didnt care.
Dog on the right, came to me at approx 4 years old, great with other dogs and small animals, but was a serious dog around people, bit me hard and challenged me every step of the way...

Usually when I tell their story, I get met with responses like...

But they're goldens...

I cant believe a Golden Retriever would ever do that.

Someone must have abused them...

And so many more comments...

While each of them have certain "characteristics" of the breed...
Fluffy blonde fur, an inherent need to retrieve and carry things, love of water and so on...
Each of them has their own strengths and weaknesses.
3 dogs, all male, same breed... different animal.
Do I teach each of them the same? No
Do I expect them all to behave identically? No
Do I take for granted that they are gentle sweet souls that would never "retaliate" no matter what situation they encounter? No

My way of thinking when it comes to animals is...
Anything with teeth can bite you...
Always remember that.

Dog on the left has matured Into the sweetest, most loveable dog I've ever known in my whole life...as soon as he meets you, you are now considered best friends, not a mean bone is his body...at times, still a nervous boy
Dog in the middle, lives in a home with cats, sweet boy, not to be trusted un muzzled around other dogs or in a situation that he may find uncomfortable...a management dog
Dog on the right, sweet, sassy soul, extremely tolerant, and indifferent to most people...
If he doesn't know you, don't push him...
I know and respect his limits, but trust him to make good choices. He's never bit again...

Each dog has their own story, their own personality and character... they are the same breed, but not the same dog.
Selecting a reputable breeder, who genetically tests dogs for health and temperament, goes a long way in helping you get a dog true to character...
but does not guarantee a bulletproof dog.

So please, respect each dog as a descendant of a predator, understand the importance of training and advocating for each and every dog as an individual and never expect that just because they are a certain breed, that will always act a certain way...

This is day 5 of ‼️‼️

This is Teddy aka Blueberry Pirate. He came back to me due to some life changes with his owner. This guy was such a laid back pup, but as he got older his true energy needs began to manifest. He needed more outside activity and more mental stimulation. Due to lifestyle conflicts, those needs weren’t being met, and his behavior became difficult to deal with. Despite being trained and socialized, he wasn’t being a very good listener, he would pull and tug at the leash, he experienced dog intolerances, and he became a pup who did what he wanted and was hard to manage. When he came back we worked with him and consistency is still needed to ensure he is on his best behavior, but most of all making sure he has physical and mentally stimulating activity met daily is essential, because most of his issues manifest when he is under-stimulated.

I am so proud that his owner understood he couldn’t meet the needs of Teddy and we were able to take him back! Owner responsibility and breeder responsibility is essential for this great breed and understand the true nature of this breed.

While our dogs may have some “quirks” (as do all breeds), that take dedication and long term commitment, these issues are not extreme and I ask that breeders, owners, and the government/parliament come together to differentiate the extreme dogs that are the problem, and not the entire breed. Let’s work together on solutions that will allow responsible owners to keep the dogs and save the dogs that have done no wrong and/or pose any threat.

To stand in solidarity with the responsible owners and responsible breeders of American Bullies in the UK I will be posting a picture(s) and/or video(s) everyday for 30 days showcasing my XL American Bullies and their place in my family .

I’m Joining in on the growing trend asking other owners to join and UK Parliament so they can see how amazing our breed really is 🫶🏼

This sweet guy is Onyx. He lives with his family in Texas. He has an extremely dedicated family cherishes and loves him. He is their protector and their cuddle buddy.

He is a lot to handle at times, and despite that his family has gone above and beyond to ensure they’re responsible owners and have educated themselves to ensure Onyx has what he needs to be successful in their home. These sweet dogs aren’t for the feint hearted and need constistency, and with that they can make amazing additions to the family.

I decided to share one of my productions and share some of the loving moments that were shared with me.

Then vs Now.
Time has flown by.

I’ll be pup sitting my babies for the next 2 weeks! These babies are just so amazing and though they’ve gotten bigger are still big ole puppies. Both are a little over a year.

Ducchi aka Gara (The fawn male) is 13 months old and Gabanna aka Moana (blue and white female) is 15 months old.

Ducchi is from the Vegeta x Kale
Gabanna is from the Vegata x Bulma

Both of these sweet pups have the temperament I was seeking and hoping for.

Stay tuned. More pictures and videos to come

The American Bully breed is recognizable by its characteristic compact, strong, thick-set structure and build. Their appearance reflects a strong American Pit Bull Terrier foundation, blended with stock from other bull breeds, such as the American and the English Bulldog, and the Olde English Bulldogge.

Tomorrow wraps up our 10 days of Bullys celebrating 10 years of the American Bully at UKC!

"The American Bully is a smooth coated dog that possesses great strength for its size. Although quite muscular, it is active and agile. Its presence is a picture of tremendous power and stamina that belies its kind and loyal temperament." --UKC Breed Standard, American Bully, 2013
