Daniel is a General Manager for technology company, with an extensive history in sales. Dr. M has a PhD in Human Services and 20+ years in nonprofit leadership. 🐾 A Heartfelt Farewell 🐾

After three incredible years, we’ve made the difficult decision to close Doggo’s Choice at the end of this year.

This little dream started in our kitchen with a dehydrator, several “taste testers,” and a simple mission - to make treats we’d feel good giving to our own dogs. What we didn’t expect was how much love, laughter, and community would grow from it. From local events and dogventures, to meeting so many amazing people (and pups!), these years have been such a special chapter in our lives.

But this past year has been a tough one, and it reminded us what matters most: our pack, our health, and a bit more balance in our days. Between our demanding full-time jobs and seven-day workweeks, it’s time to slow down and make space for the next chapter. We have always said that when this stopped bringing pure joy, we’d know it was time; and while it’s bittersweet, we know in our hearts this is the right decision.

Our online store will officially close on November 19th - a bit early because honestly, I’m done being yelled at and getting nasty-grams for USPS delays as if I have any control over them 😂. We will, however, continue to accept text/DM orders until the final delivery.

To our Doggo’s Choice family - thank you! You’ve cheered us on, shared your dogs with us, and supported our gig from day one. You have made this journey unforgettable, and we’ll always be grateful for the love and loyalty you have shown. We hope you stay in touch! 💛

As we close this chapter, I just want to say: please keep showing up for small businesses. They are built on heart, hustle, and hope (and occasionally, a few tears of frustration). It’s not easy, but it’s worth it, and we are so proud to have been part of that community.

It has been just over 3 months since we lost our sweet Baxter, and I never saw this part coming. Murphy, our goofy, gentle giant, has changed so much. They spent 8 years adventuring together. Their bond was quiet compared to Baxie’s more visible friendship with Captain; but it clearly ran deep.

Now, Murphy hardly wants to come inside. He spends most of his days outdoors and curls up out there all night too (we have a dog door they can access). He NEVER was one to lounge in grass or where there are "buggies" & "buzzy" things that scare him. Yet, when we gently try to coax him in, he looks at us like he’s afraid we might hurt him. It’s heartbreaking.

For weeks, every day between 2–3 p.m. (Bax passed at 2:21p - weird, right?!), Murphy would go lay outside, face the same direction, and just… stare. Sometimes he’d let out a soft yip, sometimes he’d just sit silently. So, out of sheer desperation to understand, I reached out to an Animal Communicator (no judgment zone - I’ll do anything for my pack). She said Baxter had “passed the torch” to Murphy as lead, but that he didn’t want any part of it. She felt Murphy’s childlike, open spirit allowed him to sense Baxter nearby, and that Bax was gently guiding him during those moments. At her suggestion, we tried helping the pack shift leadership to Teddy. For a very short while, it seemed to help, but Murphy’s nighttime anxiety soon deepened. We’ve tried everything we can think of - more enrichment, special time/trips, increased daily CBD, sleeping in the living room, even lying on the floor beside him - but nothing seems to bring him back inside, physically or emotionally.

Grief is such a strange thing, even among dogs. I’m still lost in my own grief over Baxter’s sudden passing, and I never imagined it would hit Murphy this way, or ripple through the pack like it has. All of their behaviors have shifted - I am exhausted, sad, and at a loss.

If anyone has experienced a dog grieving another for this long, especially when it changes the whole dynamic, I’d love to hear your thoughts or advice. We just want to help our boy find his way back home. 💔

🐾 Meet Angus - The Gentleman Meatball Looking for His Forever Pack 🐾

Sometimes the sweetest things show up when you least expect it. The timing wasn’t ideal for adding to our own pack, so we made a different promise: to love him, set him up for success, and find him the forever home he deserves.

Angus is about 1–1.5 years old, around 55 llbs. Though his markings could convince you there’s a little Rottie in there (spoiler alert: there isn't). His DNA panel says mostly Bulldog with some Pittie and a side of beefcake and pork chops as evidenced by his adorrrrable little beefy legs and meaty head 🤩 We don’t know much about his past, but we do know this:

❤️ He’s loveable, social, and thinks belly rubs are a human’s greatest purpose.
🐾 Still has some puppy sparkle (and the wiggle to match).
🚗 Loves car rides & walkies.
💦 Might have just discovered water - and it’s awesome!
🏫 Currently crushing it in a local Board & Train program, learning all the manners to make him the best roomie you’ve ever had.

He’s fully vetted, healthy, and will come home with a continued training plan, food, toys, a bed, and a starter pack of the world’s best dehydrated dog treats (perks of knowing the best K9 treat dealers on the streetz 😉)

**IMPORTANT: We are NOT in a rush - and we are NOT handing him over to “anyone with a yard.” Angus deserves his perfect match. His next stop should be his forever, so yes, we will be vetting adopters like TSA checks luggage.

ICYMI: In Part 1, we broke down what leaky gut is and why it’s often the real culprit behind your pup’s skin issues, allergies, and digestive drama.

Now let’s dig deeper into a key player: Zonulin.

Zonulin is a protein that acts like a gatekeeper for the gut lining - deciding what gets through and what stays out.

When zonulin levels spike, those tight gut junctions loosen… and that’s when the trouble starts:

🚨 Undigested food, toxins, and bacteria sneak through
🔥 The immune system flips out

Leaky Gut Syndrome happens when the lining of your dog’s gut gets damaged - kind of like a fence with holes in it 🧬
