What a aweful wild ride it’s been. Woody has had a very rough 2 weeks what started two weeks ago on a Sunday we thought he got kicked, but abcess came to surface about the size of an apple above his left eye from a tooth , drain put in all kinds of antibotics took 7 days for culture to come back showing 3 bugs and he was immuned to all the medication he was in for the entire week . Vet feels older then originally were told. He has been treated day 6 now for sepsis daily iv antibiotics, he had foundered it’s been a rough ride but today his labs came back fantastic! We have atleast another week of iv fluids to go at several hundred dollars a day , however this sweet boy deserved the chance to for once in his life he cares for . The absolute closes we’ve ever come to putting two down in one night and decided both deserve one more chance to throw everything in us at them to try to save them both . Our boy Cherokees X-ray came back showed nothing but terrible news. We have a farrier friend working with us, shoes were pulled today and re X-ray will be re done tomorrow to see what if anything can be done to help him . As always we will keep you all posted, everything that can be done for these horses is as always being done .
