Today was a training day for Rebel on the therapy equipment! You’ll notice we have the front and back portions of the stocks open, and are positively reinforcing the behavior of standing quietly with food (hay pellets). The act of chewing is calming to horses which helps reinforce the desired behavior! Rebel did surprisingly well. After a few walk throughs with both equipment pieces off, then turning the vibe plate on, then the solarium on, and then having him stand for longer durations, he then finished with a full five minutes which is amazing for a first timer! Each time we will increase the time duration.

This is what happens when two PhD scientists (aka professional students 😂) decide they are going to go all in on learning on a particular topic. We have been working on the at-home learning portions of our equine rehabilitation, muscular rehabilitation, performance conditioning, and massage therapy certifications. In the coming months we will be traveling to complete the in-person, in-depth courses. Some of what you see pictured is required reading, some is not - but it is all being read, understood, and applied - and tested!! Almost every evening, we sit down and watch our online lectures, read our books, study anatomy, memorize correct exercises and stretches, take tests on them, and then incorporate them into our own horses’ routines. Can’t wait to share more as we continue to elevate the business to help other horses to be sound and healthy!

As I noted last week, I won this pink saddle in a raffle, and white leopard print accessories to go with it - but I also loved the Lisa Frank-inspired rainbow leopard accessories with the pink! The two tack accessory sets are different, as I ordered a headstall, bit, breastcollar, and keepers, but didn’t order the stirrups. Don’t let that distract you! Which color combo is your fav? Stetson says, “Hey, where have you been?”

That, my friends, is a long story, but the short version is: I was severely injured in an accident that occurred on Sept 5, and resulted in not one but two life-flights, ICU and hospital stays, and a handful of procedures/surgeries to save two of my organs.

As a result, all client-facing activities here were abruptly placed on hold. Thank you to our current clients and future clients who are very patiently and kindly waiting on my return! An enormous thank you is extended to all of our team members who have kept the horses healthy and happy during my absence. A huge shout-out goes to my husband, Joel, who not only kept the ranch running, took exceptional care of me, but also onboarded our new team members in September!

The great news is, the future is bright and my recovery is going well, though slowly. In the coming weeks after a few remaining procedures, I hope to make an announcement about resuming normal activities!

Enjoy the beautiful fall weather and we will get back to our normal schedule soon! 🤍💚 (but maybe not too wild) 😉

Took advantage of the warmer day and decided to put a tuning ride on Titan. For whatever reason, he was backing up at the “go forward” cue from a standstill. I had to reinstall the button and this was showing the last two attempts. First I signal with reins, then a verbal, then pressure with my legs. Training tune up day 2 with Drifter, the cold and windy edition! Felt temp was 27F and windy which makes it just unpleasant. Got a few good things accomplished today. Tune up session #1 for this week; this is a full 30 min of groundwork, sped up so you can see a few things we are working on. Drifter is a funny one to work with, as most of the time he’s very respectful and responsive, but there are some little things I’m wanting to emphasize with him, and it’s going to take several sessions to do it.
