They call us "The Elders", the Boomers...
We were born in the 60s and 70s.
We grew up in the 70s and 80s.
We studied in 70s-80s.
We dated in the 70s-80s-90s.
We got married and discovered the world in the 70s-80s-90s.
We ventured into the 80s-90s.
We settled down in the 2000s.
We got wiser in 2010.
And we're going firmly beyond 2020.
It feel like we're living in different decades
TWO different centuries
TWO millenniums apart
We’ve switched from a long distance call operator to video calling anywhere in the world.
We've gone from slides to YouTube, vinyl records to online music, handwritten letters to email and WhatsApp.
From live game radio to black and white TV to color TV to 3D HD TV.
Went to the tape store and now watching Netflix.
We've been to know the first computers, punched cards, disks and now we have gigabytes and megabytes on our smartphones.
We wore shorts our whole childhood then pants, Oxford, rockets, full shells and blue jeans.
We avoided childhood paralysis, meningitis, polio, tuberculosis, swine flu and COVID-19.
We used to ride skateboards, tricycles, bicycles, motorcycles, petrol or diesel cars and now we ride hybrids or electric.
Yes we've been through a lot but what a life we had!
They could describe us as "exemplary", people born in this world in the fifties, who had an analogue childhood and digital adulthood.
We're like "I've seen it all"!
Our generation has literally lived and witnessed more than anyone in all dimensions of life.
This is our generation that has literally adapted to "CHANGE. "
A big applause to all the members of a very special generation, which will be UNIQUE!
