Because when it rains, it pours. 😫

I took in 7 owner surrenders.

This person had fell on hard times, and reached out for help.
These dogs were covered in fleas and received an immediate capstar.
A momma who had already had puppies was pregnant. We HAD to spay her because it’s extremely possible she was pregnant by her son.
One dog had double cherry eye.
And two puppies have parvo.
One is struggling but is fighting.

I need your help.

All infested with fleas
Only two were fixed
Two have parvo
One was pregnant

Did you know that heartworms, a serious and potentially DEADLY disease for pets, are transmitted by mosquitoes? Many people believe that mosquitoes only pose a risk if their pets are kept outside, but that's not true. Mosquitoes can be found both indoors and outdoors, and their presence can be a risk to pets year-round. No really, there is no such thing as an “outdoor only” mosquito.

Here’s a picture of a mosquito I encountered today—it's even BIGGER than a dime! This size might surprise you, but it highlights how important it is to be vigilant. Mosquitoes of all sizes can carry heartworm larvae, which they transmit to pets when they bite.

To keep your pets safe, consider regular veterinary check-ups and preventative treatments. Also, take measures to control mosquito populations around your home.

I made the decision to evacuate Because my last experience with the hurricane was Harvey. Harvey ripped off the roof of my home and destroyed it. When emergency personnel said we were going to be a direct hit with this hurricane I without hesitation decided to evacuate with myself, my children, my personal animals, and every animal in my animal rescue. This was the safest decision and the smartest decision. I do not regret evacuating and taking all of our rescue animals to Colorado. I would have rather left and looked back and thought I’m so glad it didn’t hit, rather than looking back and wishing I had left. I take my children’s lives and the animals in my animal rescue very seriously. I am super appreciative to the people who stepped up to help me in the situation. Thank you for hearing my cry for help, thank you for helping these animals, sending out love to everyone who sent me love.

On my way home yesterday I saw a sign that said “Free Puppies chihuahuas.”

Every thought went through my head in a matter of 30 seconds. . .

I drove around the block and up and down the street for 30 mins until I found the home.
I spoke to the owner who said she had no idea who dad was, but I saw Mom, she was maybe 10 lbs on a good day… The owner said they couldn’t sell them and it was so hard to find them homes.

I asked her if I could have all of the puppies and I would spay Momma so this never happens again. She agreed.

These puppies have had zero vetting; no shots or vaccines.

They are safe now.

Ladies and gentlemen, free puppies are not safe.

One who knows who is going to get them!
Two for the person getting them, you are probably getting a worm infested, unvaccinated sick puppy.
Three ITS PREVENTABLE!!!!

What is entropion?
Entropion is an abnormality of the eyelids in which the eyelid rolls inward. This inward rolling often causes the hair on the surface of the eyelid to rub against the cornea, resulting in pain, corneal ulcers, perforations, or pigment developing on the cornea, which can interfere with vision.

Meet Budlight, he was for free on Facebook. He is under a year and has lived with the entropion for his whole life.
It has caused constant irritation and pain.

He had to have surgery to fix both eyes. Today we are raising funds to cover this cost.

Cats are already SO hard to raise money for… but I have to be grateful that he ended up with us and not someone random who wouldn’t have done the surgery.

Caution, raw and real picture.

It’s HOT folks.
This Texas heat is no joke and it’s barely June.
We have been hitting three digits almost every day.
It takes me a while to feed, clean, and play with all our animals.
I seriously break a sweat, and if you know me, you know I don’t sweat!!

This hot summer means we have to prepare for some major heat waves.
There are a few items we will ABSOLUTELY need to get through this heat.

I’m hot. Sun Burnt. Tired. And ready for bed.

Tonight I ask if you have walked outside and said “damn it’s hot this year,” that you consider looking at my wishlist.

Know that no matter how hot it is, before my day and at the end of my day, I am cleaning and feeding in this weather.

They graciously allowed our rescue to use a trailer to pick up a HUGE batch of donations. I contacted them and in less than 24 hours they moved everything around to ensure we could get these supplies.

Little Whiskers from a local kill shelter is here to ask, why is it so hard to raise funds and supplies for cats?

Seriously! We have a vet bill for some cats in our care. We keep getting calls about cats and kittens in need…
But cats are so hard to raise funds for!

Did you know it costs aprox $75 to triple snap a cat. This is crucial to make sure the cat doesn’t have any transmittable diseases.
Then you have the cat vaccines, around $30 each, and needing a set of 3.
Then Rabies vaccine.
Then spay and neuter about $100-$200.
Then deworming and flea prevention $20.

But we have to have lower adoption fees to even get a cat adopted!

So then the costs it cost to house- food, water, and other supplies.

Happy Saturday!

This is one I will never forget.

One day someone made a post on Facebook about a dog being attacked by multiple dogs. I immediately loaded the kids and went looking. I was told it crawled under someone’s house really injured. For several day I continued to go back looking.
A week or so after I was out passing out straw to animals left outside because a hard freeze was coming. That’s when I noticed a Momma dog and itty bitty puppies tied to a tree with a small shelter.
Now, I would go knock on this door EVERYDAY trying to catch the owner. Eventually I did. I showed him the picture of the dog getting attacked and he said it was the Momma!! That she must have got off her tie out.
I begged him to let me take her and the puppies. At this point he informed me there were more puppies but they had died.
He agreed to surrender.
Flash forward and all have been fully vetted, loved, and now Momma Cocoa has found the home she so deserves.

I hope if you follow my page that these stories bring you as much happiness as they do me.

Rescue is hard but it is worth it.

Today was emotionally exhausting for me.

Just when I didn’t know how much more I could take, the universe said “hold my beer.”

This morning this sweet little boy passed away. I’ve been syringe feeding him and he didn’t make it. I was up every hour last night with him… The infestation of worms was just too much on his little body. Now his other three siblings are fighting for their lives.
What’s even more disappointing? The person who surrendered them is ignoring me and missed her spay appt today.
Why?
Why?
WHY?

Then we had a patient pass away, and we all fought so hard for her. She had a tragic accident by eating some trash and had two extreme surgeries to save her. She had little girls at home who loved her, and a mom and dad and little brother who adored her. Thank you to the donors who helped us cover the last of their bill. I’m sorry we couldn’t save her, but she did go in her sleep in peace and pain free.

GOD SPEED.

Today my heart hurts.
I don’t understand why.

Just know they were both loved until they took their last breath.

It’s just a dark day today.

Im in a dark place.

This is the family that we took in as owner surrenders.

They were selling them on Facebook at 5 weeks old. My stomach just hurt thinking about what would happen to them.
We took them in with the agreement that the owner would fix the Moms.
SOOooOOoOooO many people asked if the Moms are getting fixed, well their appt has been set for next Monday.
The clinic is also requiring shots to be done as well.

Someone wants to say Gooooood Morning 🌎 Welcome our newest rescue.Tiny little bean.

Poppy 🌈🐾

Today, oh man today. This is the HARDEST part of rescue. Yes, I know we can’t save them all… It’s the ones we fight for that sting. I’ve lost count of how many I have saved, but I can count on my hands how many I’ve lost. My vet team gave him everything, and fought so hard for him. I want to say thank you to them. I know it hurt them just as much as it has me. Poppy never deserved to face euthanasia in a kill shelter. He never deserves to be abandoned and infested with fleas, loosing hair, and having a broken jaw in two places. He deserved the care he got in the end. Medication, flea prevention, love, and a warm bed. The jaw surgery was completed and he died from a blood clot after surgery. He is now running pain free. He will be cremated and I will spread his ashes as he deserves. In his honor, a poodle mix was marked to be euthanized due to a medical issue at the same shelter he came from, I tagged her and will be receiving her tomorrow. Stay tuned for her updates. Poppy, you are gone, but will never be forgotten. Why? BECAUSE YOU MATTERED. Here is the last video I took of him. Thank you everyone for helping cover his vet bill and hospitalization. My heart hurts.

Rescue

Today was really hard on my soul. Rescue is exhausting, it’s something that is BURNT into your soul. On the way to get my kids from school I saw what looked to be a rabbit running on the road. I slowed down because I refuse to run over ANY animal. And by golly it’s a dog! So I pull over and follow it for over a mile. This road is a back road and there are no houses. I End up catching Rabbit. Go pick up my kids. On my home I see what looks to be a dog chasing something on the hwy (speed limit is 70). Well golly gee it’s a mini golden doodle. I slow down throw my hazards on and try to get the cars behind me to do the same. What do they do instead speed up and get over to pass me. Guess where the dog was headed, yes that lane. Last min that car noticed and braked. I slammed on my brakes pulled off and ran out with my hands in the air begging and shouting for the cars to stop. They did and the dog, Chico, ran right to me. A well groomed, with a collar, obviously owned dog, who was sooooo close to being road kill. Ever believe in being in the right place at the right time? These past few days have been rough in the rescue world. Not enough donations for spay and neuter, heart worm positive dogs left and right, taking on dogs that I wasnt told were feral— so much stress. I need donations to cover vet bills. I need you. This is me, with my hand above water, because I’m drowning. When I wanted to throw the towel in, the universe showed me I cant. Because I am their voice.
