Classical conditioning refers to a learning process where learning occurs by association.

Over time your dog learns to associate the signal with the event.

A good example of classical conditioning is your dog getting over stimulated by the sight of the leash.

Some ways to relieve your dogs boredom:
Mental stimulation by practicing some obedience training. Obedience helps to get your dog to use their mind by working to eventually access a reward.
Food puzzles can be done in so many ways. Get an old blanket lay it flat on the floor and sprinkle a good amount of your dogs kibble or treats on it then start by twisting in a circle from the center until the blanket covers all of the food. Release your dog to work for the food.
Obstacle course. Get creative and find an old dog crate or something they can climb up on, put something underneath to elevate it from one side. Amazon box filled with some empty water bottles. Two laundry baskets with a broom taped across for a jump. Get creative and then help your dog by using a leash and treats to get up on or walk across, great way to help build confidence as well!

Dog Training tip of the day

Having a release word for your dog, (I use the word “break”) makes your obedience training very clear for your dog to understand. Over use of words said to your dog that have no meaning can cause confusion or dilute the words that you want your dog to understand and respond to.

Jameson visited his owners today for an update on his training progress and a lesson before his additional 2 weeks with me for his off leash training. They will be traveling on their boat with him to their house on fire island where we will be teaching him to swim and to stay on the beach, without running away or chasing other dogs and people🐾 ☀️ 🏖️

Duttons owners have been really consistent in their training in just 5 lessons with their 5 month old mini bulldog and he has become so well behaved, confident and absolutely loves practicing his obedience! He is doing a sit stay, heel, and recall to his owner while I have a new dog standing by me.
