🥵 Summer Safety Reminder

As the temperature rises, it's crucial to ensure the safety and comfort of both your horses and our farriers during visits. Here are some tips to make our farrier visits safer for everyone involved:

▪️Stay hydrated: With temperatures soaring above 80°F, it's essential to stay hydrated to prevent heat exhaustion. Make sure to have plenty of water available for both humans and horses.

▪️Provide shaded area: Setting up a level shaded area can help reduce the ambient temperature by up to 10°F, providing relief from the heat and preventing sunburn.

▪️Apply fly spray: Apply fly spray before the farrier's arrival to protect your horse from pesky insects. Permethrin-based solutions are highly effective and can help prevent disruptive or dangerous behavior during the appointment.

▪️Apply sunblock: Just like humans, horses can also suffer from sunburn. Apply equine-friendly sunblock to exposed areas to protect your horse's skin from harmful UV rays.

“Focus on where you’re going, not where you’ve been.”

I’ve heard this saying many times, and in many ways, it’s true. But in other ways, I disagree.

Of course, looking ahead is important to keep yourself focused on your goals and progression. But, if you never slow down long enough to recognize that progression, your future goals can often seem out of reach.

Sometimes, you have to look backward to appreciate just how far you’ve come.

When we focus on 1% progression each day, it can be hard to notice the subtle changes. But when you look back at where you started, oftentimes, you’ll realize you’ve come much further than you think you have.

Appreciate where you’ve been. Focus on where you are today. And be excited about where you’ll go next. 1% at a time.
