"Goblin" Oil on wood 8x8 I thought you all might be interested in seeing progress shots of an oil painting I recently completed. I generally forget to take photos during the process, but I remembered this time!

Photo 1 shows the completed piece. You can see as the piece evolved, anatomy changed as I corrected mistakes.
Photo 2 is the initial sketch on the board. Generally there are two ways I get a sketch onto the canvas: direct drawing as seen here where I quickly gesture out the shapes, or for more complicated pieces or very large pieces, I use a projector to blow up a digital sketch. This is a small piece though, well within my usual comfort zone, so that was not required.
Photo 3 is the basic blocking of shapes and tone and color.
Photo 4 has the dog largely rendered, but I felt something was missing.
Photo 5 shows the initial blocking out of the eye, something I knew the person this piece is for would get a kick out of.
