💙💙 Sylvester’s Fairytale came true! 💙💙
Mr. Sylvester had a rough start in his life. From being attacked by a dog, then being rescued by a strange woman and becoming an indoor kitten. Also visiting the nice staff at the vets weekly to check the hard cast around his leg. His will to live never budged, not once. No matter what obstacle life threw at him, he won! 🥊 His story is truly inspirational! 💙 His story reached all the way to Boulder, Colorado!! Where his new mommy would instantly fall in love with him. Gabrielle flew across the Untied States to adopt Mr.Sylvester. He is adjusting wonderfully & had no issues during his travels. He is so so loved already!!We couldn’t be happier for Sylvester, he deserves nothing but love & that is exactly what he will have! ♥️♥️ Thank you Gabrielle for believing in second chances & falling in love with such a sweet & very special kitten! You are a Godsend to Sylvester & us!♥️

Two weeks ago I was in tears, calling every hospital in San Diego and asking if they had a veterinarian on site who felt comfortable placing an IV in a 4 week old kitten with panleukopenia. 5 hospitals said no, and only 1 said yes. One of our local hospitals put someone on the phone with me who literally said that they wouldn’t see her because, and I quote: “a 4 week kitten cannot survive panleukopenia, it is not possible.”

I bit my tongue, but I wanted to say: “sure, not with that attitude.”

Snow Pea is living proof that kittens with panleukopenia absolutely can survive. Yes, even with the best of care, some will pass. But some will live. And for them, we ought to be willing to try.

The little orange kitten on the cover of my book, Tiny But Mighty, is also a panleukopenia survivor. I chose her as my cover cat not just because she is adorable, but also because she is a reminder that when we take a chance on these tiny kittens, we can truly make a mighty difference. Not just for the individual, but for all the future kittens we will save with the knowledge we learn along the way.

This afternoon I am giving a private training for veterinary students from a university, and I put this photo of Snow Pea into the presentation so that her story can hopefully inspire these future veterinarians to be willing to try for kittens like her. No one should be told that a kitten “cannot survive” panleukopenia without even examining the kitten. I am so grateful that, even with all the heartbreak I’ve experienced this month, I have the opportunity to use this as a teaching moment. They are worth it. Snow Pea is worth it.

💗 Sheldon & Amy update! 💗
Sheldon & Amy was neutered and spayed today. Both are very sleepy but doing very well purring & making biscuits. They will be back available for adoption in the next week or so. I am doing half priced adoptions for the rest of this month. They have been waiting a very long time. 💔 They’re 6 months old, UTD on all vaccines, litter box trained & very affectionate. 🐾 💗 Ali Update 💗🐾
Ali is officially out of his cast & his leg has healed!! 💗 He has some stitches on his leg that will come out one day next week! He went to vets daily for over a week and has improved so much! He no longer has to go daily as long as he’s eating! He is still fighting the upper respiratory infection, he finished one round of antibiotics & is starting another today. He is now 2 pounds! 👏🏻 He is doing so well! He is full of energy & loves playtime! He has discovered biting is very fun too 😂😂 We will continue to update as he improves! We are still taking donations for his vetting, his bill is high! Our sweet Ali had to go back to the vets office today. We did not get the result we were hoping for. He has not been eating very much & the vets determined he has calicivirus. Ali has lost even more weight, he is now under 1 pound. His tongue is filled with ulcers. He is in good spirits even under the circumstances. His leg is doing awesome! He now has another battle on top of the broken leg. He will be on special food & fed through a syringe. He will have to go the vets office daily for fluids. We will need donations for his vetting. Ali is a fighter, he is NOT ready to give up yet. We will fight this battle as long as he keeps his will to live. We will not give up on him. Ali had his 1 week check up at the vet today! His leg looks good, no swelling. He is learning to walk on the cast! The vet was happy with his leg, he will return next Friday! He is starting on antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection today. Ali is in good spirits today!

💖💖 Story & update! 💖💖
At only 6 weeks old this baby was helpless stuck in a chain link fence with a broken leg. We don’t know how long he was there. Luckily he was found & they reached out to us. He was immediately taken to the vet. After getting an x-ray, they had determined the tibia was broken. We had originally named him Ollie, after seeing how much fight he has in him, we’ve decided to change it to Ali. Ali had two treatment options, try a cast & see if it will heal or amputation. We decided he has already fought so hard to get to here, he deserves a chance to see if his body will heal it. He will have the cast on for 3 weeks requiring weekly checks at the vets. We are praying this will work & save his leg. His first night he’s done very well. He is still figuring out how to walk in the cast. We need to raise the money for his vetting.
