“55 Days of Blessings, Faithfulness & Thanksgiving”

Day # 55

Luke 2: 1-20

“The Birth of Jesus”

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to their own town to register.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

Heartland Ridge Kennels came home to a guest who was watching our tv through the window and listening to our Christian music playing. It reminded me of a cat my sweet Daddy brought home from work when I was little that was also yellow and white. I took it as a God wink and decided to feed the addition because it seemed quite hungry. It, because I don’t know if it’s a girl or boy yet, ate everything we left for it. It answers to kitty but if it decides to stay around we will rename it. Y’all know how the kids love animals. What’s one more right...

Life goes on not off! The babies finally got to play and enjoy themselves once the rain blew over for a bit. Miss Millie jumped at the camera, she really wanted her picture taken, to say hello to everyone and tell everyone that she loved y’all. 🤟🏽Miss Sofia wanted to show everyone that she could touch her nose with her tongue. Such a wonderful talent don’t you think... ❤️🐾 Miss Lexie Mae said just be happy and smile. 😁 They all rolled and tumbled until we heard thunder and felt the rain drops again, then the fun was over for today. Happy 4th of July. 🇺🇸 Hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend celebrating our Independence! 🎆

Happy Sunday family & friends! Hope everyone has a wonderful day and that your day is filled with many blessings!

Today we thought we’d share a picture and feature one of our littles. Amelia Rose is one of Sir. Bentley Granda Bears and Miss Sofia Joys pups. Amelia is the one pup that was chosen by our daughter from our first litter to raise here at Heartland Ridge Kennels. She is a white Shih Tzu with what appears at this time to be gold markings on her ears. As she grows the markings could possibly change some but for the most part she is and will remain mostly white. After researching quite a lot and learning as much information as possible we learned white Shih Tzus are a little on the rare side. We were quite surprised that Bentley and Sofie ended up with three pups out of our first litter that were mostly white. Amelia Rose is very loving, loyal, inquisitive, has a very sweet nature and loves attention. She is learning to sit and pray before her meals at this time. When we greet her in the mornings at her kennel to take her outside she will usually lay her little head over on our shoulders and snuggle. She loves to be held and give sweet puppy kisses but she will also play hard with all the others. If she ever gets out of line Momma Sofia will quickly put her in her place. It’s very interesting to watch as Sofia naturally trains her as to what’s acceptable when they’re playing and what’s not. Sofia is very protective over her baby girl even to this day. She recognizes that she’s a little extra special and deserves her undivided attention. It’s amazing to see how God puts those traits in our animals of how to be parents and how to love well. If I’m not mistaken today Amelia will be 14 weeks old. She is quickly growing into a beautiful dog and at her last Vet. visit weighed somewhere around 4.8 lbs.

The American Shih Tzu Club Board of Directors is pleased to award Jo Ann White the AKC Outstanding Sportsmanship Award. Her devotion and service to our breed and the whole dog fancy began over fifty years ago. She was actively exhibiting her first Shih Tzu Tien and Nushi in matches during the later 1960's before Shih Tzu were officially able to compete in AKC shows.

From her early days breeding and showing in the northeastern US to her move with her husband Dick to the western coast of Florida, Jo Ann lived with a limited number of Shih Tzu in their home. Many of these dogs attained their championships. Most notable among these dogs is Jo Ann's "heart dog", GCH Krissy's Tybee Dream Machine ROM , her beloved "Chico".

Jo Ann has been active in not only Shih Tzu clubs but also all breed clubs throughout the years. Her membership in the American Shih Tzu Club began in 1973, making her the longest active member of our club. Her involvement has taken many forms. She has served on the board of directors for many years, including serving as president during 1995. For many years she's written our breed column for the AKC Gazette. She's chaired various club committees and presently serves as the web site coordinator. Jo Ann also has been coordinating our booth at Meet The Breeds during Westminster week. One of her more daunting tasks was as show chairman of the 2019 national specialty held in Fort Lauderdale.

Along the way, Jo Ann was honored with a life membership in the American Shih Tzu Club.

Jo Ann is currently a member of, not only ASTC, but also the Shih Tzu Club of Central Florida and the Manatee, Florida all-breed club. During her early days she was active in the Shih Tzu Fanciers of Greater New York.

Last, but not least, Jo Ann made a lasting contribution to our breed in writing what many regard as the definitive book on the Shih Tzu breed, The Official Book of The Shih Tzu.

Never one to with the spotlight, Jo Ann can be counted on to take on a task and thoroughly complete it. She can be counted on to help and sound advice. Despite current health limitations, Jo Ann is still very active on the board of directors, web site, and specialty committees.

Jo Ann is the epitome of which every canine enthusiast should strive to be.
