Her career began at the early age of 15 working as a Veterinary Assistant in local Veterinary Clinics. Her hard work and undeniable natural talent led to her being promoted to Veterinary Technician and eventually, Assistant Practice Ma

nager. Lauren spent the better part of 5+ years working with dogs, cats, and exotics in Veterinary Practices across South Florida. She's always had a special interest in exotic animals and was privileged to work under Dr. Susan Clubb, a world-renowned avian veterinarian, for several years. While working under Dr. Clubb, Lauren got to work with many incredible (and some very rare) species including Golden Macaws, Black Palm Cockatoos, Black Panthers, Malayan Tigers, Capuchin Monkeys, Ringtail Lemurs, and many more. She looks back on her time spent in Veterinary Clinics with a deep appreciation, as it gave her an incredible amount of knowledge and insight. In 2015, Lauren realized she had a strong passion for behavior and started to transition her work with animals from assisting with medical needs to behavioral and psychological ones instead. She began working as a volunteer Assistant Dog Trainer at many local shelters, where she was passionate about helping dogs overcome behavioral problems in an effort to increase adoptability. During the same time, she worked in several private zoos across South Florida including Jungle Queen in Fort Lauderdale, where she educated staff on husbandry needs and assisted in training large parrots and primates using R+ methods. Lauren relocated from South Florida to Southeast Tennessee with her family in January of 2019. She received her Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and AKC CGC Evaluator certifications in 2020 and opened High Caliber Animal Training Solutions (High Caliber K9s) shortly after.

I am so excited to announce my recertification with the CCPDT and our grand re-opening (accompanied by a slight brand update)! ✨

I genuinely appreciate everyone who continuously checked in on me as I took some much needed time off after the birth of my children. 🥰❤️

RaeLynn and River are both doing so well and I have been absolutely embracing every bit of raising them (littles grow up so quick)! 🥺

We have never been just about dog training - we have always worked with many species (did you know my background before dogs was training exotics in private zoo settings)? 😉

I wanted our brand to be updated to be more reflective and inclusive. 🙌🏻

I hope many of you will come back and use my services again - we had built up quite a following prior to my leave, and it was definitely bittersweet walking away!

We will no longer be offering any Board & Train services for dogs - it’s just not something we are set up for.

So you live in East Tennessee and want to be a Dog Trainer? We can help! From Basic and Advanced Obedience to Service Dog Task Training, Behavior Modification and everything in between - we do it all!

We are seeking enthusiastic, hard working apprentices to join our team immediately.

You would work closely with our Owner and Lead Animal Trainer Lauren Elizabeth Gulli to learn the ins and outs of dog handling and training.

Lauren is CPDT-KA Certified, Insured and has been working with dogs (and exotics) since 2007! There's possible opportunities to work with exotic animals as well, if you are interested.

There is potential for this to grow into a paid position for the right candidate(s).

We are seeking individuals who can dedicate 10-15 hours weekly (early mornings, afternoons and/or early evenings).

Mals and Dutchies are a whole different ball game. 😅
This sweet Dutch Shepherd girl is Evi! She joined us recently for a weekend of fun in the sun over Memorial Day while mom was away. ☀️🥰
I’ve always said “a happy dog, is a busy dog.” Mals and Dutchies are super high energy breeds which require constant enrichment.
Here at High Caliber K9s, we have a 5.5 acre Tiny Farm with large, secure fenced areas for dogs to stretch their legs. We put out kiddie pools with cool water daily during the summer. We have a mini agility course right on our property!
Even meal time is never boring with slow feeders and puzzle toys. 🤓 Encouraging dogs to think critically and keeping little minds busy is one of our specialties.

Scout recently boarded with us over Memorial Day weekend and her mama decided to let her stay with us a little while longer to complete a 2-week Basic Board & Train! ❤️
Over the next 2 weeks, we will be coaching Scout on ALL. THE. THINGS. She will get up to speed on important Basic Obedience commands and learn to mind her manners along the way!
As I have always said, I LOVE working with herding dogs (I mean, I do have 4 of them myself). 😅 This girl is no exception!

High Caliber K9s has experienced a devastating loss over the weekend.

Lauren had to make the heartbreaking and very difficult decision to lay her beloved Service Dog German Shepherd, Nash, to rest yesterday evening.

Losing any dog is incredibly difficult. Losing a Service Dog is like losing a part of yourself.

Many of you have had the opportunity to meet Nash. He was an exceptional dog for client demonstrations and was with Lauren wherever she went.

Working by Lauren's side was truly his happy place.

We ask you please be patient and understanding over the next couple of days as we navigate this tragic loss together.

To bring everyone up to speed, there is a toxic, social war going on between the Pure Positive/Force Free movement and Balanced Training. One of these bodies is massively funded and out to dictate how you train your dog. But don’t get fooled by the pretty language and perfectly-placed buzz words..

“Animals have never learned through punishment or consequences”
“Don’t train with pain”
“Reward what you like, ignore what you don’t”
“Dominance and force in dog training creates stress and fear”
“This dog just needs medication”

I’ll be honest, “Positive-only” sounds pretty great on paper, but practically? Not so much.

News flash: “Purely Positive” anything doesn’t exist. Life, parenting, career, school, nature, it all has consequences and it all has pressure. And if you want to talk about the quadrants of consequences, There’s FOUR. Yep, PP/FF peeps pick and choose which quadrants they want to train with. Balanced trainers use what works. We implement a holistic approach.

Rewards = information
Punishment = information

Information and communication are how dogs (and humans) learn. Punishment is NOT abuse.

If I’ve lost you in all of this chaos, allow me to break it down: Rewarding a behavior will encourage repeating, punishing a behavior will deter. These PP/FF folks are trying to change that.

The ban on these tools is coming. The ability to train how you want is being argued. The ability to use certain tools is being argued. The ability to say “no” to your dog is being argued.

So this post is to raise awareness as to what’s going on out there. I’m sharing my thoughts and stories because spreading the truth, sharing content and success is how I bring value to this community. My clients and followers are my motivation. I believe in these tools because I’ve seen them work, time and time again. Believe me, we were there one day. Stuck, stressed and struggling feeling like everything we tried with our dog wasn’t working. Trainers had failed us and it was incredibly crippling.

These tools and training methods have saved my dogs lives along with so many others, and I don’t want that to be taken from us. This current debate has really taken away from the dogs (and the training). Have we forgotten our mission? To help dogs, to clear shelters and empower owners to succeed.

Myself and all other balanced trainers have to deal with the constant hate, negativity and criticism from the PP/FF body. “Death before discomfort” is especially unsettling to me, and this idea is the reason so many dogs are being killed for no reason.

It’s time we stand up and share our success. Our rights are being stripped and our dogs are suffering.

P.S. Any hate or bashing will not be deleted, rather exposed. So watch your words :)

Do you know what your dog was bred to do?? Many people don’t. 🤷‍♀️
In Dog Training, a lot of complaints we receive about dogs come down to an owner who picked a dog based on appearance alone and didn’t consider breed traits.
Working breeds like German Shepherds and Doberman Pinschers were bred to work. 👌🏻
Some have a stronger work ethic and drive compared to others, but the breed is a working breed.
They are active. They need a job. They need constant mental and physical stimulation.
They are not couch potatoes. ❤️ A working breed who isn’t given an outlet to express all of that energy will become bored which can lead to destructive, anxious and even aggressive behaviors.
Same goes for Herding breeds like Heelers, Border Collies and Australian Shepherds.
If your home with dogs isn’t peaceful… Something isn’t right. Take a step back and evaluate if your breed choice is really the best fit for your lifestyle.
There are always exceptions. But generally speaking, each breed is predisposed to certain characteristics.
No amount of time or training will “work out” what that breed was bred to do. 💪

Copper is a DEAF Mini Aussiedoodle who just graduated from our 2-week Board & Train Basic program! 🙌🏻 . With Copper being hearing-impaired, he relies heavily on his other senses (such as sight)! . About Your Trainer

Hi, I'm Lauren Elizabeth. I own Wonderland Animal Training and will be your Animal Trainer. I work with domestic, exotic and livestock pets. Training animals is so much more than just my passion, it is my purpose. I wake up each morning blessed to be able to share my home and world with so many amazing animals. I place a strong emphasis on continued education. I am a Professional Member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) and am currently pursuing my CGC Evaluator, CPDT-KA and KPA CTP credentials. My combined education and practical experience in both veterinary medicine and animal training and behavior allows me to provide the highest quality training services available, utilizing only positive reinforcement training methods.
