We get asked a lot about our Bonafide Therapy Dogs being so calm,friendly, and well-behaved.
Here is Saturdays class in action on week 3....
Training in environments that they will be working in helps to create just that!
We give your dog, and you a great start at acclimating them from the very 1st class.
Being around medical equipment and distractions gets them ready for all different types of visits, including hospitals and libraries for the children.
All dogs like to work, so for them it's great!

I'm always asked, why not a harness. There are harnesses that are good and those that are not. As I've said for years, some can harm the development in your dogs movement. Please choose wisely , if you need to walk your dog on a harness, read below and see the correct example below.

✅INTERESTING ARTICLE, PLEASE READ✅

All dog owners should know this fact!

In a dog's forward movement, a harness with a tape that crosses its chest from side to side hinders it in the same way humans would bother going hiking with an elastic band holding their arms. Physiological movement of the front extremity is prohibited. Just like rubber would inhibit the pendular movement of our ARMS.

Thanks to the "Study of Canine Movement at the University of Jena", we now know that in the dog, the center of rotation of the front limb is at the top of the scapula, but in the human the center of rotation in the arm is in the MOOD.

Jena's study demonstrates, among other things, the importance of scapula movement for dog locomotion. Now we understand the importance of taking into account the free movement of the dog's shoulder when choosing a chest harness.

That means there SHOULDN'T be tapes in the scapula (pink) area, and they shouldn't cross the chest side to side either.

From the point of view of biomechanics and physiotherapy, it is recommended not to choose
Gearing harnesses that have a tape that goes through the chest laterally, or that have tapes that touch or press the scapula.

Always prefer harness models with ERGONOMIC design, to allow maximum freedom of movement for your dog, improve his well-being and safety during his walk.

It is with a heavy heart, that we tell you that the face of Bonafide Therapy Dogs Gil, passed peaceful late last night.
He lived at the senior living facility we call home to our training program.
He was at every training, and loved on every dog that was there. He had a job in letting all the residents know, when the dogs were coming and he took it very seriously.
Because of him and the other residents, we are able to get the dogs ready to go out in the world, and help make it a better place.
For me personally, it was a tremendous loss. He was a grandfather figure, and we became very close.
He liked to garden as well, so when I asked if he had a butterfly 🦋 garden and said no, I ran out and bought him milkweed, and educated him on the whole process. When the 1st butterfly came he was like a little kid.
I've always told students, some will be like having an extended family member. For me, he was family, and he will forever be loved and missed.
Both he and Henri will forever be together, and always remain the face of Bonafide Therapy Dogs.
Rest in Peace sweetie, our time together was short but so meaningful. Love on Henri for me! Xoxo 💔🐾🇺🇸

Congratulations to Pearl. She passed all 3 levels of Canine Good Citizen and is on her way to becoming a Bonafide Therapy Dog!
Pearl's owners, Dr. Daniel and Dr. Kristina are both dentists and have decided to bring Pearl into the office to calm patients before and during their procedures.
