This has been the shortest growing season I’ve ever experienced. It’s hailing here in Idaho. If you’re still wanting to grow food but are forced indoors, follow along as we show you how and what to grow this Winter! ❄️
Thinning season is upon us!!! This is my favorite part of the growing season because the next few weeks will have a HUGE boost in fruit production. Reminder to reach out for a FREE consultation if you are struggling with any specific plants. #healthyfood #garden #growyourownfood
Wondering what you can fit in a small space?! Follow along and you’ll see the chaos that we create for our family. Reach out for tips or a free consultation to discuss the bounty that YOU can have in whatever small space is available to you!
As Idaho gets pummeled with triple digits for days straight don’t forget that it’s hot for wildlife also. Run a small sprinkler when you can, set out pots of water, and provide shade as well as you can. Stay cool out there!
Happy Independence Day to all my Farm Friends!!! Don’t forget this old phrase “knee high by 4th of July” speaking of your corn…. How tall is it now?!
Friendly reminder to fertilize your edible plants every two weeks during peak growing season! Reach out for more info 🌻🍀🌿🌳 #edible #grow #food
Starting a journey in homesteading is learning how to be at peace in the space you have. As a renter, that can be difficult. Start small, try new things, reach out for questions or advice, build your community, get to know your neighbors. It may feel pointless to build a community when you know that your lease is up in two months or six months or however long you have on that rental. But you never know the kind of opportunities that you’re passing up by not starting the conversation. I have gotten jobs, new opportunities, even new places to live because I have built relationships with my neighbors. Frequently those neighbors are homeowners and they have other houses that need tended. Many times those owners have had really bad experiences with renters. And then they meet me, a steward of the land who always tries to leave a space better than I found it, and they realize what renting could be. Take the first step, say hello. You never know what could happen.
Capitalize on the sun during those days that allow it!! Today we had about three hours of really lovely sunshine. Don’t forget that the sun is the BEST grow light 💡 ☀️ 🌱 #growyourown #spring #garden
Please don’t kill your tomatoes 🍅 Wait just a little longer to plant these outside. #tomatoes #farm #growyourown #boiselife #zone6b
🌿 Basil is a staple in our home. I start basil nearly every month and grow it in containers. Pinching off small seedlings is the best way to get healthy plants. Once you pinch seedlings they can be used on pizza, pasta, in soups and salads. And they’re delicious!
