Support local whenever possible!

Hey guys,

I always like to be transparent with you to the best of my abilities. In light of multiple small business closing down, it made me feel less like this was my fault and me failing as a business owner and more like it was something everyone is struggling with. My small bakery isn’t doing well.
•
Inflation is crazy, with making everything from scratch, butter is so much, eggs are SO much, sugar is crazy and I could go on. Supplies for the shop have gone up, my PGE bill has tripled.. This puts us in such a tight financial bind and it has me considering closing down my shop. I write this with tears in my eyes. We have worked so hard, I have stayed very late hours into the night to make sure we have goodies but it still isn’t enough.

I wanted this bakery to be amazing for the community, I wanted small business vendors to flourish their businesses within these walls, I wanted kiddos to remember us when they are older and think back, “remember that pink bakery mom?”

All this being said, we are doing our best. We want to succeed but it’s so difficult being a small business owner. I have done so much to keep my doors open and I feel timing was everything. We were SO amazing the first year, but this year has been SO hard. I don’t want to be another “closing our doors” post, I want to keep pushing and keep going but this has become so hard and when I say, “come support your local bakery,” I really mean that with everything in my heart. Even sharing our posts here and there costs $0 and makes such an impactful difference and helps us reach more people.

I feel so embarrassed and disappointed by this post because I wanted nothing more than to succeed for myself, my two young kids, my community I grew up in; I want to be super open about the struggles of our shop and other small businesses everywhere. This is so hard.
