Let's not let these horses who suffered and died have done so in vain. Destiny was a survivor, but her baby did not make it. They were bailed from a kill pen by two rescues who routinely sent horses to Delores Hardin of Paws Ranch Equine "Rescue," despite the fact that there were already horses dying of starvation and neglect on the property.
In May, Delores picked up Destiny and her foal from the kill pen. On arrival at Paws Ranch, Destiny reportedly broke loose and fled the farm. Animal Control tracked her for six weeks before she was eventually returned to Hanser's custody. It's almost as if she knew she was being delivered to hell, but sadly her baby was not old enough to flee with its dam, and not old enough to survive on its own without intensive care - which we all know was not to be offered.
Seven months later, in February 2022, county law enforcement finally seized the surviving equines from Hanser's property and Destiny was transferred to a wonderful home - where she received the first care she may have ever known in her life. We got an update from her family that Destiny tragically passed away in May of this year due to a brain tumor. She didn't have enough time in safety, but she was loved.
Hanser was found guilty of 5 felony charges of animal cruelty in August of this year.
