In the last three weeks I have had these lovely three litters born.

First, a pair of skinny pig boars, a self black and golden agouti.

Then, a generously sized singleton chocolate agouti skinny carrier boar.

Lastly, a trio of self slate sows. Devastatingly the skinny pig sow in the litter did not make it, but I am glad mom and the two skinny carriers are thriving.

These all are essential for the continued growth and success of my core programs and I look forward to sharing their development and journey here on the page.

Announcement:

The caviary has had a lot of ups and downs since the start of the new year…

Hopefully we are getting to a better place soon and will have more fun things to share

As of right now we have had many litters born since January both with triumph and goals reached as well as heartbreak and loss. Currently all pups minus one will be staying here as grow outs. I will be posting updated photos of a few of them as well as new additions and upcoming plans.

On another note, I will have a few haired sows looking for retirement pastures. In addition, I may have one or two boars who are suitable for either brood or pet lovers, though I am still in the air about them.

This is Colores de Martha Caviary's Policy:

Making a deposit indicates agreement with our policy.

1. We breed for our own goals and hold-backs. Adults and pups who are posted are not necessarily looking for a new home. If they are, it will be clearly labeled. In this case, they would need to stay with us until at least 6 weeks of age, sometimes longer.

2. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel a sale at any time. If we cancel a sale, we have the right to keep or refund the deposit as we deem necessary. If we cancel due to the development of a health problem prior to the animal leaving our care, the deposit will be refunded.

3. Prices depend on lineage, structural quality, breed, and gender.

4. To reserve an animal, you must put down a non-refundable & non-transferable deposit. Deposits are 50% of the total. If local pick up, the remainder is to be paid before or at pick up. If using transport, the remainder is due 1 week before transport is scheduled to depart. If the remainder is not paid by that time, the deposit is forfeited and the animal will become available.

5. At time of deposit, pick up or transport arrangements must be made and agreed upon by both parties. Pick up by you farther than 20 miles from our home would incur an extra charge. If the animal is not picked up by you or transport when originally agreed upon, there will be a boarding fee of $5 per day. This will need to be paid before the animal can be picked up or put on transport.

6. It is the buyer's responsibility to arrange for transport if needed. We have transporters we work with regularly and can provide their info upon request. You must confirm with us which transport, and when pick up will be. Transport pick up must be within a reasonable distance from our home.

7. We will only deliver animals to transport (or to you) if they have no known health problems. We are not responsible for the health of the animals once they leave our care. This includes when using transport.

8. It is the buyer's responsibility to check over their animals at pick up. This includes confirming that the gender, color and breed match the pictures and description provided at purchase.

About Me:

Hi! My name is Adam Colburn. I first owned cavies as pets when I was 11, and I decided to get into the hobby of breeding them two years ago. Initially, I worked with Teddies in broken and self varieties in addition to a small program of tan pattern Americans. Though I enjoyed this part of the journey greatly, my passion has always been Skinny Pigs. In the fall of 2021 I chose to start transitioning to a caviary completely devoted to Skinny Pigs. In the summer of 2022, I completed my first import of Skinny Pigs from the EU, with the addition of several Skinny Pigs purchased here in the States. In the months after, I said goodbye to my lovely Teddy and American stock. Since that initial import, I have worked hard on my Skinny Pig program for my own personal goals and to contribute to the overall improvement of the breed here. In the winter/spring of 2023, I knew that I was going to be needing new out-crosses, so I decided, with much thought and preparation, to go for a second import from the UK. Now, currently in the fall of 2023, I have successfully completed two imports and continue to make more and more progress by the day on my programs. I strive for quality in color, type, temperament, and structural soundness. I base my current and future breedings on the Dutch SOP and will continue to do so until a new or updated one arises there or here in the States. I hope you will join me on my journey and watch as I update this page and continue to make progress with my Skinny Pig programs.
