Reminder to give grace to your horse no matter the training level. Sometimes horses are just goofballs, no matter how much training you put in, they still have their dumb moments.
I just wanted to remind everyone that even though we may expect them to preform at a certain level, they are still living life for the first time just like us all and to not be afraid to go back and work through something small or something that shouldn’t be a problem.
Give your horse the grace you’d want extended to you too
Spa day for the girls, mud bath included 😂
Everyone enjoyed their trims and were the best girls
Nova has officially been with us for a year!!
Happy gotcha day!!
Because training isn’t just about in saddle work. All horses should have confidence in the trailer, loading and unloading. Shooter will stand like a saint once he’s in, but he lacked confidence going in and backing out. Before he took some coaxing before he would finally join me inside and was scared to back out. Now he loads and unloads like a dream!

Shooter can officially carry a flag W/T/C. He did SO WELL. One of Shooters goals is to set him up for drill, flag work is extremely important for that and after a bit of desensitizing, he couldn’t care less! He’s also getting better and better with neck reining, not 100% proficient, but getting there!
Patriot had a PHENOMENAL ride today. Probably one of the bests he’s ever had. Holding collection, wasn’t strung out, taking simple corrections without a fuss, and using his body so well.
Always so excited to see happy owners as they hop on to check out their horses progress! ☺️
A couple ornery boys today, but got some good learning opportunities and it was all around good for them. ☺️
And back to work we go!
Both boys enjoyed an extra day off, but Shooter wasnt thrilled with coming back. Although I can slowly see him becoming less reluctant about work and even possibly enjoying it! Patriot on the other hand was thrilled to be riding again. Both boys had excellent rides!
Patriot continues to impress with how well he retains information. Didn’t get a video, but man is he doing good with his impulsion. Also worked on calming his brain down after he canters, it’s hard but he’s trying!
Shooter rocked it with his side passing today! A bit hard to tell from the angle but he was side passing off and on the rail all around the arena. He’s building muscle and able to hold a canter for a few laps now and he started learning the basics to long and low.
Way to go kid!
Patriot also had a great ride today. Something clicked and he really started using his body better and getting some impulsion without the need to speed up. Yay!
Incredibly blurry, my camera wouldn’t focus and I had no idea. 🤦♀️
Shooter learned the start of side passing off legs today! This was the first time we have ever done and this and he started picking it up quick. After this, we side passed on and off the rail at the walk and trot. He started to really understand it.
Good job buddy!
Day 10 for Patriot and day 6 for shooter!
Patriot figured out he could jog today, he was such a good boy about it. Was a tad strung out and heavy on his front end, but not bad! Now just gotta connect his dots of hind end impulsion and slower speeds!
Shooter is almost proficient at forward movement cued by my legs! He did walk, trot, canter with minimal effort today! Time to strengthen his muscles and start moving his body around at all gaits.
🎅🎄 Holiday schedule! 🎄🎅
December 25th-January 1st there will be no lessons for the holidays!
Patriot is learning to pick up his riders at the mounting block. He’s been a wiggle worm at the block and gets a little tense, so we made it a fun experience, sorta a game for him. He caught on quick and was much more eager to stand for the block!
Day 5 with shooter
After 5 days of work softening him to leg cues, we got progress. He’s still lazy and leans towards the dull side, but it’s no longer a battle to get him to move forward off your leg. First time cantering a full lap!
Now Shooter can enjoy the rest of the weekend off, good boy!
Patriot has definitely started to really come under himself and offer some self carriage, which is awesome. Still had to work on not tossing his head when asked to slow down but he’s getting there! Solid progress
Shooter and patriot both had great rides today!!
Shooter connected more dots today and trotted for 20 minutes and got a few canter strides after telling me how he feels about speed with some baby bucks, he’s learning though and trying!
Patriot was spicy and energetic at first but then quickly settled into the Saint he is. He’s making some good progress!
Shooter arrived over the weekend and settled in. Got to work today with familiarizing ourselves and worked on connecting the dots of leg cues and forward movement. Good boy!
Patriot is starting to figure out how to lift his ribcage and get some good impulsion going. He also is offering to back with only seat pressure. Such a good boy!
Today was a big ground work day to end our first week.
Patriot has become pretty obsessed with long and low which is only going to help him as he comes along!
Patriot day 3!
Didn’t get to video the session today as it was a very wet one. But this sweet boy is getting so much softer with his brakes, learning long and low (and loving it), and has gone from not backing to starting to back on his own accord after we stop. Excited to see his progress continue.
Day 2 with Patriot was another successful day! Working on getting his track brain retrained, lunging better, suppleness while riding and a better foundation, and using his body more correctly. He’s a good boy and super fun to work with.
First day working with this goober, Patriot. He’s got a good head on his shoulders, should be a fun 30 days! ☺️
Worked with pretty girl tonight on her flying lead changes!! She now can successfully do them on both leads. Now to strengthen the cue and pattern her for barrels!
Her mom and her are in for a fun 2024 season

As part off our lessons today, the kiddos learned how to teach a horse tricks. They learned what to do, then implemented everything themselves. Jessi has never learned this trick before and by the end was putting pieces together and giving a fist bump with only minimal help! Lessons can be so much more than just riding and I love seeing the pride on the kids faces when they accomplish training a trick themselves.

Did a bunch more liberty work with Faline today in between rain spells. Worked on responding to different vocal cues like “circle” (tight circle), “out” larger circle, “switch” change of direction, and coming to the whistle. She’s definitely starting to realize the whistle means come and I love it! Ended with some playtime because she’s a goober and I love her. I sadly forgot to record the vocal cues portion but got the whistle on video!
