It's bittersweet to see this one go home. She sure made a nice little horse. Notice how she lopes on a loose rein, holds that pace the whole time, isn't worried about the dogs and the camera horse, and is carrying herself nicely. Can't ask for much more than this on a 60 day 2 year old.
This bay filly is just doing plum fantastic!
She was feeling playful then the wind picked up and she decided to play haha I just got healed up from a spine injury so I tried my best not to let her start bucking. She was kind to me and kept it at a slight crow hop thank goodness š¬ this is a wonderful little filly I started and she really has a good (and sometimes fractious) mind on her. Usually super solid to ride
SUPER happy with how she takes all of this. Iāve done lots to prep her through ground work and it pays off.
Sorry to ramble on guys but I feel like I should demonstrate what I meant about watching their shoulder and eyes for softness instead of their feet. Again, have patience with this stuff it donāt happen overnight. Iāve done a lot of prep with the flag and lead rope to get her here.
I will do this throughout the duration of of her time here in training. This filly does excellent and is coming around to be pretty solid. Notice I release when she softens and not when she picks up. Iām looking for softness. I donāt necessarily care if she picks her foot up or not. As a result, she does pick her foot up, which is what I eventually will want but for now I donāt really care whether she picks it up or not. I just need her to soften. timing and patience is everything.
First time saddling is always fun! Got her halter broke and some groundwork and desensitizing the last 2 weeks. She took saddling really well and settled into it nicely no more bucking. I really like this filly and super happy with her. Sheās gonna be great!
I will add that itās a great way to find out if anything is sore, lame, or hurting in any way. Theyāre pretty honest creatures theyāll let ya know!
Iāve prepped her for a while on handling her feet and it sure pays off. Iāve only picked them up without a rope once before.
Working on softness and getting him relaxed with a rider. Heās coming along great!
