It’s a week of celebrations! Depending on where you’re located, you may be celebrating Canada Day (July 1) or Fourth of July this Friday (U.S.).

🎆As fireworks displays, cookouts/barbecues and parades are underway, make sure your pet’s safety and comfort are top priorities for your celebrations!

👇PSI encourages pet parents and pet professionals to keep these tips in mind:

✅ Keep pets inside during celebrations (+ close all doors and windows and play the tv or calming music for your pet).
✅ Make sure your pet wears an identification tag and that your microchipping records are up to date with your current contact information.
✅ Watch out for unsafe foods and decorations, and make sure your guests know not to feed your pets.
✅ Use the services of a professional pet sitter if you’ll be away from home.

How can you have a more sustainable, eco-friendly pet-sitting or dog-walking business?

👋One way is to say goodbye to paper!

Here are some easy ways to go paperless:

🌍Forgo printed invoices and send them to your clients by email instead.
🌍Instead of providing daily updates on a leave-behind paper note, share pet updates with your clients by text (or through your pet-sitter software).
🌍Digitize your pet-sitter presentation book and new client welcome packets instead of having them printed to share.
🌍If you like to leave informational articles behind at clients’ homes, consider sending a monthly e-newsletter instead

Going paperless just doesn’t help the environment, you’ll also be saving money that you previously had to spend on paper and ink!

👉It’s also important to your potential clients. In its Pet Industry Sustainability Trends report, NielsenIQ shares that 92 percent of consumers say that sustainability is important today (and 69 percent indicated that sustainability is more important than it was two years ago). The Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC) reports that 80 percent of young US adults (ages 18-34)—the fastest growing demographic of pet parents—are willing to pay more for sustainable products.
