Rhode Island Red, Cream legbar, Blue Laced Wyandottes and golden comet hens we have over 50 availble. 14 months old: productive layers of large brown eggs. These chickens were bought from registered hatchery as two day old chicks and raised up. Healthy with no issues. We just have too many. Please share with family and friends who might be interested thanks.

A few of our breeding groups have recently been the lucky recipients of a significant home improvement grant! More space = happier chickens = healthier chicks.

These heras fencing panels are ideal for creating pens. They are sturdy, but also light enough to move by hand so the chickens are relocated to fresh ground once a week. It’s good fertiliser for the fields and keeps internal parasites at bay in the chickens. Win win! I think they must still be jealous of our free ranging general layers flock though.

Their old pens now have some very exciting new residents. I will hopefully find the time to photograph them tomorrow...............

The Swedish Flower hen - so named due to the 'flowers' on the tips of their feathers, is an ancient, landrace breed (one that has not been selectively bred by man) dating back at least 300 years. Native to Sweden, it was almost completely extinct by the 1970s until enthusiasts rounded up the few remaining birds from just 3 farms to ensure their survival. They are still considered endangered, but their population is stable. We shall be doing our bit to further ensure the survival of this beautiful breed.

Swedish flower hens are a small-medium sized chicken and lay around 200 cream coloured eggs per year. They come in a variety of colours and some have crests (ours are the non-crested variety).

They are very hardy, having adapted to living wild through Swedish winters and are friendly, inquisitive birds. So much so it was extremely difficult to photograph them, as they kept trying to peck the camera!

The hens are popping out eggs left, right and centre! As much as we would like to incubate them all ourselves, we just do not have the incubator space to accommodate them. These are all available to post tomorrow. Eggs are held no longer than 6 days to ensure the best chance of hatching. Message for prices.

We can also make up ‘variety boxes’ from all these breeds and more.
