Poco’s Playhouse Doggy Daycare Details #1:

“When my dog comes home from daycare, he/she drinks water like they have never had it before. They must not have had access to water.”

This one is really interesting and I still don’t know exactly why, but when dogs get home from daycare, they drink like furry little fish. My dogs do the same thing. As soon as we get in and the leashes come off, straight to the water bowl and drain it, even though I had seen them drink several times throughout the day.

Dogs always have access to clean water at Poco’s, whether in daycare or boarding. After all these years, I still don’t know definitively why they do it, but it is absolutely a thing. Maybe the cookie they get from the jar on the way out makes their mouths dry. 😊

Saturdays are coming back! Beginning Saturday, October 5, we will return to our normal Saturday hours. We will be open Saturdays from 9am - 5pm. We really hope to see your pups here!

I just want to let everyone know that the person who made that nasty post about Poco’s yesterday sent me a huge, loooong apology. She also deleted her review (I did not delete it). She said she jumped on the hate train without having all of the info. And I get that. Especially when it comes to the animals, who can’t speak up for themselves.

I know it had to be not easy for her to do that, and it means a lot. She could have just swept it under the rug and ignored it, but she didn’t. She did the hard thing and that shows her fortitude.

It means the world to me that she did that. It was a “crime of passion” which I completely understand. Most people would not have remedied it. She did. Thank you, Rory.

Poco’s peeps, join me in wishing Haley all the best on her career path journey. We will miss you, but we know you’ll be great.

Also join me in welcoming our two new pack leaders, Grace and Nikko. We’re excited to have them in the family, and look forward to new memories.

I know many of you have been wondering where I (Aunt Nikki) have gone. I went into the ER around midnight last Sunday/Monday with severe abdominal pain. They did a CT and found that a twisted hernia had caused a bowel obstruction, and I had to have emergency surgery. I was under the knife by 4am.

After a few days in the hospital, the removal of several tubes, and finally the ability to eat solid foods again, they turned me loose. I still have a tube in my stomach connected to a little vac pack that I have to carry with me. I am restricted to like 85% bed rest with short walks around the house.

It’s going to be a hell of a journey, but a bunch of really wonderful people have come together to take care of both me and the Playhouse. I will be back and better than ever eventually, but until then, it is nice to know that you all care and are concerned. If I said it once, I have said it a thousand times, we are all family at Poco’s.

Looking for 2-3 Pack Leaders for doggy daycare and boarding.

STAFF WILL
*Use canine psychology and dog handling techniques focusing on group dynamics
*Oversee group play
*Interact with clients at drop-off/pick-up
*Take payments
*Clean

STAFF WILL SHARE THE FOLLOWING DUTIES
*Night checks
*Sunday/holiday checks
(NC and holiday schedules are made up by the staff. As long as it gets done properly, it is up to you all to decide your schedule together.)

STAFF PERKS
*A wealth of knowledge on canine psychology and behavior
*Free doggy daycare, on or off the clock
*Half price boarding

REQUIREMENTS
*Must be 18+
*Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
*Must have reliable transportation
*Must live in or within 5 minutes of Bowling Green

PREFERRED
*Dog and/or horse handling experience

PAY RATE
Will be based on knowledge, experience, and willingness to work and follow all rules and protocols.
