When we started, this horse was severely lame at the walk. A very large piece of his coffin bone was fractured off within the joint.
Dr. Doering removed it arthroscopically and our farriers have him shod to relieve stress in that region. He has completed rehab and is back to work with his family that loves him so much.
(X-rays are in the comments.)

Sinus infection in the horse:
This sweet horse was presented for evaluation of recurrent, malodorous nasal discharge for over a years duration. He had been treated with 9 rounds of antibiotics prior, however the nasal discharge would always return.
Radiographs revealed a damaged tooth in communication with the sinus cavity. The tooth was removed under standing sedation- minimally invasively out of the oral cavity by drilling through a tiny incision in the cheek (MITSE). A packing was then placed to stop the communication between the oral and sinus cavities.
The infected sinus was then trephinated (drilled) and flushed facilitated by endoscopy (camera). Copious purulent material (cottage cheese pus) was removed through that little hole in the skull. You can see this part on the video. The horse was medicated with systemic antibiotics and local antibiotics within the sinus.
The last time the sinus was flushed, it was completely clear. He is much brighter and more comfortable without this terrible sinus infection!
Took a day off yesterday. The chief of surgery was happy to commentate. 😆

6 months post-op after fusing the lower joints of both hocks by drilling across and lasering each one in 3 different locations.
Looking FANTASTIC! 🫶🏇🏽
We had the absolute best time hanging with the North Texas kids tonight! I couldn’t be more proud of these athletes and their equine partners. 🏇🏽
There’s easier ways to make a livin’ but there’s no better way to live. 🏇🏽

So you call yourself a cowboy…
You might be punchy, but can you whip your pony with your gun kind of punchy? 😹 haha (This is one of my nephews entering up today. I’m dying!)
🇺🇸 As American as it gets! 🇺🇸
🇺🇸 If this doesn’t bring tears to your eyes! 🇺🇸
Weatherford PRCA Grand Entry last night- the paraglider lost both his legs serving in Iraq. He is now the first soldier to reenlist with this injury. Pretty neat to see!
Hope everyone got to enjoy a little bit of Memorial Day weekend. We certainly had a blast at the Navy SEAL Danny Dietz Memorial Barrel Race. 🇺🇸
It was Crow’s 6th time being entered. I told Donnie, “We went so fast! Haha He said, and I quote, “It’s really hard to tell when you’re videoing.”
⭐️ Good answer babe, good answer. ⭐️
🦄 UPDATE 🦄
12 hours post-op and Little Iceman is doing great! He’s passing formed manure and grazing. We’re all excited and cautiously optimistic.
I get it… because I do it.
Thanks to everyone who helped Waffles! 🖤
About 6 months ago, this filly shattered her knee ending her future as a performance horse.
Fast forward through four different surgeries and countless hours changing bandages, I am happy to say that baby Waffles is FINALLY feeling like she should.
I couldn’t be happier to have been given this opportunity. So many people made it possible. 🖤
• The techs and surgeons at Texas A&M who did her first two surgeries
• Her very kind and generous breeder who trusted us with her future
• The folks at Weatherford Equine who let me perform her second two surgeries in their gorgeous OR
•Andee Shae and Sondra for doing her rehab
• Our farrier who helps me plan, execute, and tweak her custom glue on shoe regiment
• And most importantly, Donnie who has helped on every single level- cleaning stalls, hauling her, helping me anesthetize her for procedures, prep for surgery, etc, etc, etc
All I can say is that I can’t freaking wait to flush some embryos! She’s by High Brow Cat out of a proven DTF mare. 🖤🖤
Did you know that we do ridden lameness exams at Cutting Edge Equine Hospital? Today, we were able to make a custom therapy plan for this rope horse based on the findings from this exam.
Be sure to make your appointment soon for a ridden lameness exam. It’s a great way to get your team performing at your best! (940)799.8900
