The lumbar vertebrae allow for flexion, extension, and side bending.
Longissimus Dorsi muscle, Jct. Gluteus Medius, Illiocostalis, and many more muscles join at the lumbar.
Is my horse sore in their lumbar, if so, then why? What is causing it, how can we help?
Causes of a sore lumbar vary…..
~Could be arthritis, or a joint disease.
~Poor saddle fit
~Muscle strain or fatigue
~Rider imbalance
~Improper Shoeing or Trims
If you find that your horse has a sore lumbar what do you do as an owner?
Run through the list and evaluate everything, it may something as simple as just wear and tear ! Or maybe your saddle doesn’t fit!
When you’re back hurts you go get a massage! Why shouldn’t your horse have the same! 😊

Add on as I forgot this bit of information in the before and after videos. Both videos he had wedge pads on and still was in pain. Wedge pads can help but it takes a while for the body to adjust. ❤️
