Evaluation Comments - This information is observations from our staff and volunteers
1/7/2025 updating level
1/5/2025 PM Rounds: demand barking, low tail wag, tense, appeasement licks, retreated outside when PAs appeared next to handler
1/3/2025 * Per Volunteer * K9 was out with volunteer. Prior to this situation, K9 was affliliative and relaxed in play yard with volunteer handler, showed no red flags behaviors. On the way back to kennel, K9 suddenly began to bite at leash- (was not close to kennel, no excessive dogs barking etc, handler did not see any causes to K9's sudden shift in behavior)- as K9 continued to bite at leash, volunteer handler placed second lead on K9 and K9 grabbed the second lead and continued to hold and tug at both leads. Furthermore, K9 was attempting to bite up the lead, getting closer and closer to the handle (and handler's hand) despite handler long-arming the lead and holding it taught. As this was occurring, handler was able to continue moving towards kennel, with difficulty. When volunteer handler arrived at kennel (K9 still biting and tugging at leash continually) strong leash pressure was needed to kennel K9.
12/29/2024 Solicited attentions, Playful, Easy to pull from kennel, Easy to return to kennel, Played with toys, Takes treats nicely, Grabby at treats, Easy/Loose Leash, Appeared interested when walking past kennels, Sit, GHOST: Calm on Approach, Vocal when leashing w/all 4 on floor, Vocal when wanting a treat, grabby at first but then took gently later, enjoyed pets and leaned into all staff he met for pets, easy leash retrieval on return.
12/22/2024 Dog was demand barking on approach, highly aroused, grabbed at a treat thru the gate. Handler quickly placed the leash as dog tried to dash out. Pulled moderately hard on leash, showed interest in some dogs, barked and tried to pull hard towards reactive/barking dogs. Walked more easily on leash after leaving the wing. In lower PY handler dropped the leash, dog sniffed around, generally stayed near handler, followed handler around the yard. Very grabby with treats. Allowed all petting and handling, remained calm in the yard at all times. On the return dog barked at other dogs being walked, tried to pull towards them. Entered kennel for treats, allowed leash removal.
12/21/2024 Closed outside for morning cleaning. Canine was standing against kennel door, tik tok tail, barking at handler, settled and took treats then continued barking. Trying to push out of kennel when leashing, moderate/strong pull to yard, showed no interest in other dogs. In yard canine was affiliative with handler, jumpy at times but will sit for treats. Very snappy when taking from hand. Leaned in for pets and allowed petting all over. Became distracted by dogs on other side of fence, canine stood against fence, able to call canine away and redirect. Moderate pull back, became reactive towards other dogs on the way, used mild leash pressure to guide canine into kennel, easy leash removal. Recommending male handler perform 2nd attempt.
12/20/2024 Pup was at front of kennel alarm barking at handler. Began jumping on kennel door when handler got close, bit towards handlers hand when handler put hand in front of kennel.
12/20/2024 Demand barking as handler approached, though immediately sat in reaction to handler acknowldegement and accepted treats.
12/20/2024 Pup was at front of kennel alarm barking, biting at kennel door when handler placed hand in front. Would not settle.
12/19/2024 Pup initiated fight with kennel mate when kennel mate became excited near kennel door.
12/16/2024 k9 had soft body, wagging tail, allowed handling, lifted onto truck without issues
12/16/2024 walks on leash, allowed all handling and petting but head shyed away when placing collar, started barking at men when walked in room
