Summer 2024 Litter Update

So, it has been a very emotion, hectic and sleepless period. I have not wanted to post an update until the situation was in a stable place. I have said before Mother Nature is a cruel mistress. That statement stands true.

Faith had a very difficult labor, so much so, we almost lost her. We had to opt for an emergency cesarian to save her and one viable puppy that remained in-utero . The rest of the litter was gone. So, we have had a very ill mother caring for 2 very weak infants.

Faith seems to have stabilized, but suffered significant trauma. The puppies, despite being extra large for Faith, were weak and unstable, well beyond the norm of mortality that can be expected with pups. It is only now, I am comfortable writing this. We continue to monitor and care for the three of them.

So, I will be contacting the individuals on the list, in order, to discuss options. I ask everyone to remain patient and let us do our work of caring for these amazing creatures. The impact has been felt by the entire pack. We are all adjusting but, progressing.

Faith is retiring....
I know we have said it before, but this is our last litter for the forseeable future. It is time for Faith to retire. Additionally, with the hope of a transplant on the horizon for me, it is time to take a break as well.

We hope to host the first ever Molasses Hill Goldens Family day at our home in Vermont in the late part of summer or early fall. So we can see all our family.

After Faith retires, I will begin the search for new genetics and we will add another female to our pack. However, that is a long process.

So, if you are thinking about it or on the fence, I am still taking referrals for pups, from you all. Soon we will have puppies and puppy cams. However, if you or another is on the fence, please complete the application soon.

A watched Golden never whelps. She is on her way.

I am still looking for "referral familes", if they are referred by a current owner they get the "sibling" rate.

I would prefer to just deal with referral placements.

I have room for those before I starting the interview process.

For those who contacted me about friends please point them directly to the application and have them fill that out.

We are Expecting! Arrival around the first week in July. Adoption date First week in September. Application is online, Siblings, are a priority (discount applied). As per usual, the first 10 will be given priority, the total list will be 16, with the remaining on waitlist status according to queue.

Summer 2024 Litter- Kai and Faith!

Well, it looks as though we will have a summer litter born in the early part of July if all goes well. I will soon be posting a sign up sheet regarding this litter.

Sone initial information to help in your planning.

1. Sign up is required.

2. If you are new to us a Reference is required, from either one of our current adoptive family or if you are a current adoptive family, this is waived; we are referral only.

3. Once pregnancy is confirmed, a 50% deposit will be due.

4. Anticipated adoption dates are the first two weeks of September depending on my determination of release.

5. We place our pups based on the information provided, your reference and our interview with you, a gender preference may be specified. However, we have found despite anatomy, there is not a significant behavioral difference between our pups.

Hello Friends!
Well it has been an interesting time here at Molasses Hill Goldens. We took a bit of a hiatus due to some circumstances well beyond our control. So, our anticipated Christmas litter was forgone. We anticipate having a June litter, with an adoption date of October 14th or so. That is if Kai and Faith are on the same page. Hope that helps in those who we know are planning and waiting. We hope you are all well. We are more than ready having a batch of babies in the house. We have been using Fluent pet to teach Faith, Kai and Iris to use words. It is fascinating and wonderful. We wonder if as they become more fluent if they will teach the puppies to use words as well. Knowing our pups, if we add that to their training routine we may well have a batch of talking puppies. We hope you are all well and we look forward to having a batch of furballs in the house to bring joy and life here and then go out in the world to continue that legacy.

Molasses Hill Short Stack-August 2022 Litter.

So……on the day before Kai was to leave, he and Faith had a brief interlude which ended very quickly in Coitus Interruptus and Shippus His Ass out. We really did not think that this micro event could become anything. There were no usual tells, signs etc. Then about 3 weeks ago we noticed “The Belly” then the milk, all the while thinking it was a false pregnancy.

Well, we immediately jumped into prep mode, just in case and low and behold we had a small batch of 7. They will be ready for homes October 15th, 2022.

Mind you, this event caused a cascade of plan changes, vacation cancellations and all the other crap and the entire time I was thinking “Someone needs a puppy”, my default mode is to faith (Thus, Faith’s name)

So, Our December large batch is on hold. The last two litters, I have made it a priority to ensure folks got siblings, as we normally have such large litters. However, this time, I am going to limit these pups to referred new families, as there is someone out there who needs to join the Molasses Hill Pack.

So, in the next few days, I will be posting the application etc, on Facebook. It needs to be completed and returned ASAP, deposits will be do upon acceptance. I will post pictures when the red light is not on, and names. This time we are using Star Trek, as the theme as the first born, took so long, we greeted them with a “You have boldly gone where no pup has gone before.” Yes, the geeky side of me is showing. Soon, we will have puppy Cams!

January 2022-Update.....
So, we are not sure of our schedule this year, but only intend on one litter. Iris is enjoying being retired and a gramma and Faith is back to what will be her heat cycle as the dominant female in the house.

As much as I love my summer litters, I am feeling like taking a summer off (Post Covid Playtime). However, given how things change around here, perhaps not. We shall see.

I am sure we will have a late fall, Christmas litter, if Faith remains on her current trajectory. I do like my fall litters best as it is far easier to keep pups warm than trying to keep them cool.

Just to restate, we are by referral only, so you must know someone who has one of our pups to be able to join our list and extended family. Special consideration is given to children who are neurodivergent and those with PTSD.

When I know more of my plans, they will be posted here. Those who received an automated response, that is it. I can't respond to all the requests we get, it is just impossible. At the time we are beginning to plan, I will assemble a list based on requests and then start from there.

If there are litters where Kai is the daddy, I will post that information here with the permission of the breeder. I hope you are all well and healthy.
