We recently learned of the passing of STARS founder Larry Thomas. Without his work and dedication this program would not exist today. Join us in remembering and celebrating Larry's life. The first year of STARS in 1994 included 6 riders for the 2 week program and that has grown to over 40 riders each season! Thank you Larry for the humble beginnings of STARS.

We are collecting orders for delicious cookie dough from Eileen's Colossal Cookies until Tuesday August 13th. Cookie dough will be delivered at the end of August. If you would like to collect orders we have forms available. If you would simply like to order you can message the page.

We are raising money with Eileen's Cookie Dough again this year! If you would like to collect orders, sheets will be available at ride nights Tuesdays and Thursdays. Orders and payment will be due August 13th. Cookie dough will be available for you to pick up and deliver at the end of August. We'll be in touch with a date when we know it is ready.

I can't believe we're nearing the end of our first session with just 1 one ride left Thurs July 11th! We've enjoyed a great bunch of riders and volunteers and looking forward to second session starting July 23rd!

If you're interested in volunteering, we have an orientation Monday July 22nd at 530pm...message for details! You can also join in any time and we'll get you trained on the fly.

Big shout out and thank you to Too'Shay Tack for setting us up with the saddles we needed to keep our horses happy and comfortable!

Too'Shay Tack is located on the east side of brookings and offers saddle fitting services along with new and used Tack for sale.

Thank you so much to the volunteers who came out for the first night with riders tonight! We look forward to seeing even more of you on Thursday night. We have volunteer opportunities for people to help riders with helmets and boots, walking with riders up the ramp and onto horses, walking alongside riders and leading horses. We have scheduled rides on Tuesdays and Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30pm. We can also use help at 4:30 to catch and saddle horses.
