Newbie Alert 💙
Scout joined us today and got to tour around the Aging Hearts Senior Dog Center before his foster momma picked him up. Scout is a 10 year old shih tzu and he is SUPER sweet 🥰 He will see our vet soon and will need to be neutered before finding his forever home. More updates to come!

Update on our sweet Ripley:

Ripley remains hospitalized at this time and her clinician called shortly ago with some mixed news. She told us that up until recently she’s been a little brighter but as they began to remove her from her pain meds it became clear that she was still quite painful, so she’s resumed her course of buprenorphine.

They are also now seeing scours and she has developed a cough, so the concerns with these developments become that of E. coli and lung infection and/or pneumonia. Her CT imaging over the weekend also indicated changes in her lungs, so her care team has begun her on baytil and Meloxicam to hopefully help quell some inflammation and fight the infection. They intend to continue monitoring her overnight and will intervene in any other necessary ways if she experiences any decline.

Ripley is just a tiny baby. A baby that shouldn’t even be apart from her mom yet. But instead, she’s alone in a sterile, metal cage trying her best to survive. An opportunity that her mother, her brothers and sisters, her friends…..will never get. Ripley was born to be an expendable commodity. A faceless, nameless creature subject to nothing but pain, torture and fear until being prodded through a slaughter line, her entire life reduced to nothing more than a breakfast sandwich.

This isn’t a plea to be vegan, this isn’t an over-dramatization, this is just the plain truth of the industry she was born into. Our choices matter, and they are quite literally a matter of life or death. If you already love Ripley as much as we do, please don’t forget all the others just like her who are losing their lives by the thousands every second. It doesn’t have to be this way, the choice is ours.

Please keep our sweet baby girl in your thoughts and prayers as she navigates her medical obstacles, and thank you to everyone has contributed to her medical care and for believing as we do, that her sweet little life MATTERS.

🐈 Alongside their guardian, they can help with very important tasks such as dog and cat enrichment! Enrichment includes activities like giving treats and toys to cats and making treats for the dogs!
