What’s on my mind, Facebook? This is not me. Stop bothering all my friends trying to sell them your crappy tshirts.
On another note, since Facebook doesn’t care this entity is copying my profile and trying to prosper off of my hard earned awesomeness, please feel free to report them for ANYTHING other than copying me. You know, hate speech, bullying, s*x trafficking. Get creative! And have fun!
I’ve never even been to New York, New York, much less would I live there. Uhg!

What’s on my mind, Facebook, is that there is someone copying my account and trying to sell crappy made tee shirts. And apparently it does NOT go against their standards. I think we all know I would only sell awesome teeshirts! Don’t buy these crappy teeshirts!!
That political looking profile pic is not me and I do not endorse these crappy made tee shirts.

Now standing the Sire to this guy.

He is good minded above all else. Athletic, very cowy, extremely intelligent and plenty of speed. Big stopper. Strong to the horn. And I think he’s pretty. 😄

He stands about 14.3 and weighs 1100 lbs. Live breeding only with a limited number of spots available. DM me for more information.

This…every bit of it…

" Equitation is the art of looking good on a horse. It has little to do with being good on a horse". Kresney Ann
I give clinics on horse training and development all over the world. We work on many of the keys to the development of a well trained equine. Steering, speed control, stopping, spinning, lead changes transitions, gaits and movement as well as softness, positions, and gaining mental focus. I'm the clinician that watches the horse and helps you figure out how to build your dream. Or at least clean up your nightmare.
Not once in all my years of teaching have I ever given a riding lesson. That's someone else's job. It's always been my goal to make the horse look good, and sometimes in the process, it may not look pretty from an equation perspective. So what. Do I know how to look good on a horse? Of course, but I save that for when I'm showing. Up until then it's about riding in whatever way gets it done.
Sometimes my heels are up, sometimes I'm off to one side. I might be shoulders forward or back. Hands up, down, right or left. Standing up, sitting down, back arched or slouching. Basically I'll do whatever I have to in order to get the horse to free up, move the part I'm working on, and find the place or position I'm trying to get to .
I know that my position can affect so many things from their chin to their tail and from their back to their feet. That's called riding. To me training is about being good on a horse. Who cares what it looks like.
Occasionally however, I will get the student or attendee who is so hung up on equitation that it actually creates a problem for the horse. They think that if they have excellent posture and balance that the horse will suddenly be able to make magnificent changes. If only that were true my job would be so much easier. Wouldn't it be great if all we had to do was put our heels down and shoulders back, that suddenly our horse could do all the physical acrobatics that we hope for.
So my equitation advice at clinics is pretty basic. As long as you don't fall off, you're probably riding. So when does it become important to ride pretty? When your horse is fully trained and you're at the show. It causes the judge to watch the horse and not the ugly way you're riding. Up until then, and even in your warm ups and between shows, it's ok and even effective, to ride ugly. If your horse isn't riding pretty, it's not going to matter if you are.
My wife Kresney Ann said it perfectly in a lesson the other day when a student was having all kinds of issues with her horse and was mostly concerned if her heels were down. "Equitation is the art of looking good on a horse. It has very little to do with riding good on a horse ".

A good friend of mine, and an original Everyday Horseman Community member, sent me this article. It is a long read, but boy is it a good one!

If you are fairly new to horses this will be eye opening, and possibly even hard to grasp. If you have been around horses your whole life, this at first glance will seem like a waste of time, but the insightfulness of the article will bring to light things you may have previously experienced but never put into words. Everything in this article was taught to me by a horse, by many horses, and not by another human. Really I’ve never even had much of a discussion with another trainer regarding much of what is in this article, but as you read it, the realizations are unveiling…like seeing for the first time something you always knew was there. It definitely puts a different view point of training into play.

Give it a read. It’s good.

The horse is a prey animal, the human a predator. Our shared trust and athleticism is a neurobiological miracle

30 DAYS IS NOT ENOUGH!

60 DAYS IS NOT ENOUGH!

A well rounded, well trained horse takes years to develop and THEY ARE WORTH THE INVESTMENT!

Good training isn't quick. Good trainers aren't cheap. When you take an un-started horse to a trainer, 30 days is not enough. The bare minimum should be 90 days. Longer is better. Yes, it costs money.

Horses 🐎 Cost 💲 money ……and there is no way around it.

Make sure you choose a trainer who is honest about this and isn't just trying to keep your horse longer for the money. Sit in on sessions once your horse is in training and ask questions. 30 days is not enough for the majority of horse owners to step in and continue with the success of the horse. You’re setting the horse up for failure. If you’ve taken the horse out of training too soon, not only will it affect the horse but you're also setting blame for the “bad trainer” that didn't get your horse broke and kid safe in 30 days.

In most cases, what your horse and trainer can do together after 30, 60 and 90 days are not what you and your horse can do together.
This means you need to be engaged in the process with your horse, in lessons and seeking to learn yourself if you want to recreate the education your horse is receiving.

The expectation of a 90 day horse is that they now have a solid foundation of the BASICS.

What those basics are will vary from horse to horse, age and trainer, but understand that you do not have a finished horse by any stretch of the imagination... and you don't usually have a beginner safe horse. Having the expectation that this is possible, is unfair to the horse. Remember, your horse won't necessarily retain ALL of what they have learned when they go back home unless you continue to work with your horse consistently and with a similar set of skills. Set realistic goals and put the time in that your horse needs and deserves, it's worth the investment!

Trainer - What day is it
Student - Wednesday
Trainer - What day is it
Student - The 5th
Trainer - What day is it
Student - 😡
Trainer - I kept asking you the same question and you gave me the right answer, but I didn’t accept it as right. So you changed your answer, got frustrated and confused. This is exactly how your horse can feel if you miss the release!
