🌟 Heartfelt Thanks to Our Amazing Supporters! 🌟

We are so incredibly grateful to one of our wonderful students Catherine and her family for their thoughtful donation of a heated bucket for our beloved horses! 🐴❄️ Winter can be tough, but this kind and generous gift will ensure our horses have access to fresh, unfrozen water all season long.

This donation is more than just a bucket—it’s a reflection of the love and care our community pours into Hosanna Horse Haven. Together, we are creating a haven where humans heal horses, and horses heal humans.

Every act of kindness, big or small, helps us continue our mission of providing a safe and loving environment for these incredible animals. Thank you for being part of our journey and for showing that compassion can truly change the world—one bucket, one horse, and one moment at a time.

🐴💧 Help Keep Boone & Red Lady Hydrated and Healthy This Winter! 💧🐴

At Hosanna Horse Haven, our horses are more than just animals—they’re family. Boone and Red Lady are two of our beloved residents, and with the colder weather here, they need your help! We’re in need of two more 5-gallon heated water buckets to ensure they have fresh, unfrozen water all season long.

Running a sanctuary for living, breathing souls that depend on us is a labor of love, but we can’t do it alone. Your support helps us provide the care they deserve—and every contribution makes a difference.

Enjoy the pictures of them, they both give so much to our students to and visitors ❤️🤠

If you’d like to help:
💙 Donate directly toward the buckets. (Screen shots are from Chewy or Amazon.)
💙 Share this post to spread the word.
💙 Reach out if you’d like to sponsor Boone, Red Lady, or another horse for the season.

Together, we can make sure every horse at Hosanna Horse Haven is safe, healthy, and warm this winter. Thank you for being part of our amazing community!

Important Update: Lessons Cancelled Monday-Wednesday

Due to the extreme cold, and in the interest of safety for our clients, volunteers, and horses, we will be closed for lessons Monday through Wednesday this week.

If you’d like to reschedule your lessons for Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, please reach out to us, and we will do our best to accommodate.

A Special Prayer Request
With these extreme weather conditions, we’ve made the decision to keep our 17 horses inside the barn to ensure their safety and well-being. While they normally have access to pasture and two large hoop barns for shelter, staying inside means round-the-clock care: feeding, watering, cleaning stalls, and providing exercise.

This is a massive task for just two caretakers (Will and Lisa) , and we are asking for your prayers for strength and safety as we tackle this intensive care routine.

Thank you for your understanding, support, and encouragement during this time. We are grateful for our amazing community that continues to stand by us and our horses!

UPDATE! This need has been graciously filled by our caring student Addi and her family. We thank them so much and appreciate their generosity!! They said of course , we have to take care of the horses !!!

We are still in great need of a floating tank heater like this one. . If anyone could donate one that was be so greatly appreciated. Thank you as always for your support.

Winter is hard for horses owners in general let alone a sanctuary and therapeutic horsemanship center. More hay, more shavings , extra time in the barn, canceled lessons (which support their care) , working is freezing temps, and very very few donations. Time are difficult for everyone, and we only ask for what is urgently needed. Thank you for considering.

🌬️🐴 Braving the Cold, Embracing the Connection! 🐴❄️

Last night’s lesson looked a little different at Hosanna Horse Haven! I saddled up to demonstrate the power of gentle hand placement, soft touch, proper body position, and moving fluidly with the horse. Sometimes the best way to teach is to ride alongside our students and show the harmony we’re working toward.

I’m so proud of our students who bundled up and showed up this week, embracing the chill to deepen their connection with these incredible horses. Your dedication and courage shine through in every session!

📸 Stay tuned for photos of these brave souls from this week’s lessons—you all inspire me every day!

Let’s keep growing, learning, and moving forward together.

❤️🐴Meet Heather – a great addition to Hosanna Horse Haven!🤠

We are excited to welcome Heather to the H3 family!

Heather’s journey with horses began at just 10 years old, sparking a lifelong passion that led her to show horses in 4-H for seven years. Over the years, she has deepened her knowledge through courses in equine business and natural horsemanship, focusing on understanding horse behavior and connection.

Heather has a heart for helping others build meaningful relationships with horses. She loves sharing insights about why horses behave the way they do, helping clients feel grounded, supported, and more connected during their time at H3.

Her experience includes working as an instructor in a residential program for at-risk youth, where she taught natural horsemanship and connection-based skills. Heather has also guided Veterans and provided therapeutic riding instruction, making her a wonderful addition to our mission of healing and growth.

We’re thrilled to have Heather’s passion and expertise enriching our programs and supporting the transformative experiences at Hosanna Horse Haven!

Why Our Horses Stay Cozy Without Blankets ❄️🐴

With the fresh layer of snow covering the pastures, you might wonder how our horses stay warm without blankets. These photos show just how incredible a horse’s natural winter coat is at keeping them protected from the cold!

When deciding whether to blanket a horse, there are several important considerations:

1. Natural Winter Coat: Horses grow thick, fluffy coats in the winter that trap heat close to their bodies. The outer layer of hair sheds water and snow, while the undercoat insulates. This is why you’ll often see snow sitting on their backs without melting—it’s a sign that their body heat isn’t escaping!
2. Body Condition: Horses with good body weight and health can better regulate their body temperature. Horses that are underweight, elderly, or have certain health conditions may need extra protection.
3. Shelter Access and Feeding Routine: While out in the pasture, our horses have access to two large hoop barns for shelter, giving them plenty of space to stay dry and protected from harsh weather. They also have free-choice hay available 24/7 in the pasture to help them maintain body warmth. For morning and evening feedings, the horses come into their individual stalls to enjoy their pellets, warm water, and a dry, cozy space. After eating, they chose to stay tucked into their warm stalls, completely dry and comfortable. But by morning, they were ready to head back out and enjoy the snowy pasture again!
4. Weather Conditions: We monitor wind, rain, and extreme cold. Wet and windy conditions can make it harder for horses to stay warm naturally, which might call for blanketing.
5. Workload and Clipping: Horses that are clipped or in heavy work during winter often need blankets because their natural coat can’t fully protect them.

At Hosanna Horse Haven, we carefully assess each horse’s individual needs, but for our healthy, well-fed horses with thick coats and access to shelter, blankets aren’t necessary. Nature has equipped them well for the season!

Let us know—do you blanket your horses, or let their natural coats do the work?

🐎 The Power of Experiential Learning at Hosanna Horse Haven! 🐎

Tonight’s Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) session was a perfect example of how experiential learning—seeing, touching, and doing—creates deeper understanding and lasting impact.

Our student is working toward earning a merit badge by learning the 15 main body parts of the horse. But instead of simply memorizing words, they actively saw each part labeled on the horse, touched and explored how each area feels and functions, and did the task by identifying and discussing each part in real time.

This hands-on approach engages the senses, builds confidence, and strengthens the connection between horse and human. Learning becomes more meaningful and memorable when students can see, touch, and do the task themselves!

At Hosanna Horse Haven, we are passionate about creating these impactful learning moments that go beyond textbooks and spark curiosity and growth.

Ready to experience learning in a whole new way? Join us for sessions that inspire connection, confidence, and compassion!
