Is there anyone in the Lake Charles, Louisiana area that knows of a place to rent ? Judy Lees and I have 3 pugs and a small sheltie. Thru no fault of her own we have to move and are devastated 😞. We are in Pasadena, Texas now and rent is too high here for us ,we are on SS disability. Our dogs are life , they are all seniors aged 8 to 11 . Always fully vetted with vaccinations etc. we could expand our search wider. I do know the ladies of the Barktastic 4 . B4 . If anyone wants to check who I am as a giving person. We are asking for your help due to so many scam rentals on line . From one pug lover to another, any info is a wonderful gesture. Ty so much pug peeps.. just to be clear , we will never ever give up our dogs 🙏🏼💞❤️

Lois Lane's Story:
Lois Lane was born in August 2019. Within 6 to 8 weeks Lois started to have a loss of balance that appeared like an ear infection. The veterinarian said that she couldn’t see any other signs of infection but prescribed an antibiotic. After that prescription was over, Lois started falling over again one evening. She quickly became lethargic and unresponsive. I rushed her to the animal hospital, they could not tell what was wrong and could not get blood test done at night to determine what was happening. Medication for a liver shunt was prescribed without a formal diagnosis by ultrasound. Blood test later supported the suspected liver shunt. Lois responded to the medication, and we were referred to Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Unfortunately, Covid 19 shut down CSU to new patients but Lois’ condition was being managed well with medication.

Over the next three years she suffered a few effects from the liver condition and subsequent medications. Through the whole experience she developed an incredible sweet personality and was my companion even at my part time work. She was slowly developing liver disease that would potentially shorten her life. She deserved more and I promised to see if a surgical solution would work.

July 2023, Lois Lane had a surgery to close her portosystemic shunt and suffered a seizure. She was kept sedated to inhibit more seizures that were expressing in one side of her face and fortunately not her entire body. She was in ICU for over a week and given multiple anti seizure medications. She had a gastro feeding tube placed in her side and was released to my care. She was blind and unable to even lift her head.

With every tube feeding, she would get some physical therapy for range of motion and give her muscles some resistance. She had lost 1/3 of her body weight and lost a lot of muscle. She had to learn to move her limbs, then stand and walk. She had to require the ability to swallow.

Now, Lois is fully mobile. She is still having focal seizures and is blind. She may still regain some sight and is having less frequent & less intense seizures. She is on a medication that take 6-8 weeks to start to control her brain’s excess activity. Neurological consultation is to be scheduled. She is currently 4 months post operation. Her recovery has been amazing. The CSU surgeon did not expect her to be mobile without assistance and require the feeding tube for the rest of her life. She had the tube removed and is eating soft food voraciously, like a pug!
