Is there anyone in the Lake Charles, Louisiana area that knows of a place to rent ? Judy Lees and I have 3 pugs and a small sheltie. Thru no fault of her own we have to move and are devastated 😞. We are in Pasadena, Texas now and rent is too high here for us ,we are on SS disability. Our dogs are life , they are all seniors aged 8 to 11 . Always fully vetted with vaccinations etc. we could expand our search wider. I do know the ladies of the Barktastic 4 . B4 . If anyone wants to check who I am as a giving person. We are asking for your help due to so many scam rentals on line . From one pug lover to another, any info is a wonderful gesture. Lois Lane's Story:
Lois Lane was born in August 2019. Within 6 to 8 weeks Lois started to have a loss of balance that appeared like an ear infection. The veterinarian said that she couldn’t see any other signs of infection but prescribed an antibiotic. After that prescription was over, Lois started falling over again one evening. She quickly became lethargic and unresponsive. I rushed her to the animal hospital, they could not tell what was wrong and could not get blood test done at night to determine what was happening. Medication for a liver shunt was prescribed without a formal diagnosis by ultrasound. Blood test later supported the suspected liver shunt. Lois responded to the medication, and we were referred to Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Unfortunately, Covid 19 shut down CSU to new patients but Lois’ condition was being managed well with medication.

Over the next three years she suffered a few effects from the liver condition and subsequent medications. Through the whole experience she developed an incredible sweet personality and was my companion even at my part time work. She was slowly developing liver disease that would potentially shorten her life. She deserved more and I promised to see if a surgical solution would work.

July 2023, Lois Lane had a surgery to close her portosystemic shunt and suffered a seizure. She was kept sedated to inhibit more seizures that were expressing in one side of her face and fortunately not her entire body. She was in ICU for over a week and given multiple anti seizure medications. She had a gastro feeding tube placed in her side and was released to my care. She was blind and unable to even lift her head.

With every tube feeding, she would get some physical therapy for range of motion and give her muscles some resistance. She had lost 1/3 of her body weight and lost a lot of muscle. She had to learn to move her limbs, then stand and walk. She had to require the ability to swallow.

Now, Lois is fully mobile. She is still having focal seizures and is blind. She may still regain some sight and is having less frequent & less intense seizures. She is on a medication that take 6-8 weeks to start to control her brain’s excess activity. Neurological consultation is to be scheduled. She is currently 4 months post operation. Her recovery has been amazing. The CSU surgeon did not expect her to be mobile without assistance and require the feeding tube for the rest of her life. She had the tube removed and is eating soft food voraciously, like a pug!

This auction is for Muggi, the cutest little 4 yr old French Bulldog who belongs to Kendra Fisk (Fiskari). Some of you may know Kendra more as a pug lover and huge supporter in the pug community. Muggi helped Kendra get thru an incredibly difficult time when her previous Pugs Diezal & Princess aka PugNacious D & P suddenly passed away only 34 hours apart May of 2021. She strongly believes in fate and that Muggi (& even Yetti) were paw-picked from D & P. Yetti is Muggi’s little sister who is just turning 1 and they are best friends.
Sadly, the girls had to suddenly stop playing when on 3.3.23 when Muggi started having horrible pain in her neck. She went to the vet that day and received meds. Mom immediately made an MRI appt at the clinic with a neurologist she was referred to, but it was 3 weeks away. After numerous doctors’ visits, blood tests, x-rays, meds, crate rest, the neurologist visit at AERC Animal Emergency and Referral Center in Oakdale, Minnesota, finally came. Muggi had Urgent Ventral Slot Surgery to repair a herniated disk between C3-4 as result of being diagnosed with degenerative disc disease (IVDD) in her neck, meaning all discs in her neck are bad. After Care Credit was denied, her Mom scrambled all over the place trying to figure out how to pay the $7,308 due for this surgery. She did finally obtain enough credit on a high interest credit card, but now is in debt thousands. This auction is to help her pay down some of that debt and what was obtained ($679) from the primary vet.
As if her disc surgery wasn’t enough, they also found a suspicious mass on one of her t***s. Surgery to remove the mass is scheduled for 6.14.23 after she’s completely healed from her IVDD neck surgery.
Muggi’s Neurologist also said the discs in her back may very well be just as bad. There is a treatment to help prevent future herniated discs in Muggi’s back, possibly preventing her from enduring even more pain and surgeries to repair those discs and that is Percutaneous Laser Disc Ablation (PLDA). Muggi’s Mom is considering trying this too, giving Muggi the best chance of not experiencing this again, but of course it is very expensive, over $2,000 and the treatment facility is in Oklahoma, 940 miles away from home. Please let’s all help Muggi’s Mom pay down some of that credit card debt and possibly be able to get this PLDA treatment, after her surgery to remove the mass on her teet on June 14th! As if her disc surgery wasn’t enough, they also found a suspicious mass on one of her t***s. Surgery to remove the mass is scheduled for 6.14.23 after she’s completely healed from her IVDD neck surgery.
Muggi’s Neurologist also said the discs in her back may very well be just as bad. There is a treatment to help prevent future herniated discs in Muggi’s back, possibly preventing her from enduring even more pain and surgeries to repair those discs and that is Percutaneous Laser Disc Ablation (PLDA). Muggi’s Mom is considering trying this too, giving Muggi the best chance of not experiencing this again, but of course it is very expensive, over $2,000 and the treatment facility is in Oklahoma, 940 miles away from home. Please let’s all help Muggi’s Mom pay down some of that credit card debt and possibly be able to get this PLDA treatment, after her surgery to remove the mass on her teet on June 14th! Pugs for Pinky is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization, founded by Lisa Kerner in 2012.

MISSION STATEMENT: No pug will be euthanized because the owner can’t afford medical treatment. We help provide medical treatment for pugs who need emergency care.

As we all know, donations and fundraising came to a hault for many charities during the height of the pandemic. Pugs for Pinky and so many others are still trying to build back up again. This auction is for Pugs for Pinky is to raise funds for the cause and save even more pugs from euthanasia just because their owners cannot pay for emergency medical treatment.
