Congratulations JoDee on being showcased in the Western Thoroughbred! You and Risque’s Legacy are great ambassadors for the breed.
Feature:
Everyone meet Risque’s Legacy, an eleven-year-old mare. She was bred and owned by the late Karl Krieg and his wife Darlyne in Washington. She is by graded stakes winner Atta Boy Roy and out of Risque Humor, by Mingun. Her pedigree also includes Tribunal, Synastry, A.P. Indy and Distorted Humor. Her dam passed away shortly after she was born, which is how she got her name. She grew up strong and made 22 starts, won three races, and earned $91,526 on the track. Her biggest wins were in the 2016 Washington Cup Two Year Old Filly Stakes and 2017 Kent Stakes. She was honored with the titles of Washington’s Champion Two-Year-Old and Three-Year-Old Filly.
“Risque” made her final start in 2019. After she retired from racing, Karl and Darlyne gave the mare to JoDee A. Snyder. JoDee was a veterinary technician. She knew Risque from the time she was in utero and helped care for her after her dam passed away. JoDee was later hired by the Kriegs and she helps manage the farm where Risque was born.
JoDee retrained Risque for barrel racing. She says that the bay mare helped her regain her confidence after JoDee suffered compound fractures of her tibia and fibia. They have been consistently placing in the 2D at sanctioned barrel races. This summer, they won their first belt buckle and multiple other awards. JoDee says that Risque is her heart horse and she has a forever home with her.
