Our very first Scottish Highland born on our farm is 2 today!! HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY OPIE…He is momma’s goodest boy on the farm!!
P.S. He is also my FAVORITE! Shhhhh…. don’t tell the others! ❤️😍😂🙌

FINALLY!!! Our micro-mini Highland Bull Woody(Dun) is old enough to breed and was successful! We were starting to worry, but I guess patience was all that we needed! 🥰😆Our yellow/blonde mini Highland, Nala, gave birth to a beautiful white bull calf this morning and he is just beautiful!! ❤️😍

Good News post at Sassafras Fork Farm!!

We have had some new arrivals this past week!! Our Nigerian Dwarf, Ellie (Trixie’s first born, black & white) delivered twin boys REMY & RUDY on Monday evening, 6/24. ❤️😍
Then…. last night, 6/30, Pixie (brown & white) delivered twins as well! She had a girl (brown & white) and a boy, names TBD!!! We are in ‘kid’ heaven right now!!! ❤️😍😆🙌

We are still working on names for Pixie’s girl & boy…. Any suggestions are welcomed! 😆

They all weighed about 2 lbs each at birth and are so stinking adorable!! 🥰

We have Good news, and Bad news at Sassafras Fork Farm. I’ll start with the Bad news in this post (see my next post for the good news)….

We had a tragedy with my favorite Nigerian Dwarf goat a couple weeks ago. Trixie (pictured on top of our mini Donkey, Nae-Nae), suffered a severe abdominal hernia, just days before she was to deliver her twin boys. Unfortunately, after consultation with our regular Vet (Dr. Bob at Large Animal Vet Clinic) as well as the emergency Vet (Dr. King at NCSU Vet School), the best option for Trixie was to put her down as she was in significant pain and suffering horribly. Therefore, her babies didn’t make it either. 😭😞 R.I.P. sweet Trixie! You were a very sweet, good girl that made me smile and brightened our lives every day! You can now run, jump and play pain free over the rainbow bridge, with your beautiful baby boys in tow for eternity! ❤️
Sometimes, farm life really sucks!! 😭

Welcome to Sassafras Fork Farm baby girl!! ❤️ Born 6/9/24. Moodina and Diablo did it again! This beautiful little heifer is 1/2 Angus, 1/2 Scottish Highland and is such a sweetie-pie! 😆🥰

What should we name her?????
Her 1 year old sister’s name is Ruby-Sue. Ruby Sue was this exact color at birth, but she is now more fluffy like her highland daddy, but black like her angus momma.

Opie has a brother!!!😍 Meet Oliver, (aka OLLIE), born just a few hours ago this morning! He is friendly as can be, just like his big brother Opie! Fergie is a fantastic Momma and has blessed us with another beautiful Scottish Highland bull calf! 🥰😍

Still waiting on Fergie to deliver... BUT, Moodina, our mini lowline Angus, and Diablo, our Scottish Highland brindle bull, welcomed their calf last night!! I'm so excited!!! She is gorgeous! A chocolate (possibly brindle), heifer! 🥰😍

Diablo, our 5 yro Scottish Highland Bull, got out of the pasture yesterday and our Angus heifer Moodina joined him in the fun! 🤦‍♀️🤪 Thankfully, they are INCREDIBLY spoiled and extremely docile creatures!! 😆🤣😂🥰😍😇 🙏

The following 'baby farm animals' have been added to our petting zoo experience:

* Blackjack - 6 month old jack (miniature male donkey, adopted on 9/8)
* Opie - 7 week old bottle baby Scottish Highland calf (born here on 7/30...both of his parents are also here)
* Charlotte & Wilbur - 7 week old pot-belly pigs (added to our petting zoo on 9/15).
* Jellybean - 10 day old jenny (female miniature donkey born 9/11/22...both of her parents are also here)
* Newborn rabbits - 1 week old (we adopted these kittens with their parents on 9/16/22).

Message me to schedule an appointment on Friday, Saturday or Sunday!
We also offer a few weeknight appointments that may get a chance to feed Baby Opie his evening bottle!!

Our mini donkeys, Jenae & John Allen, are proud parents of a precious baby girl! Jenae had a jenny about an hour ago and we are absolutely delighted! Now, little Blackjack will have a girlfriend, when the time comes! 🥰 We need to think of the perfect name for her sweetness!?!

I tried to go live with the birth, but our signal was too week at the barn. I'll post some videos soon!

We have a new member of our Sassafras Fork Miniature FARMILY!! 🥰😆❤

Meet 'BLACKJACK'! 🥰

His previous adoption fell through and his owner called to see if we'd be interested in adding him to our farm. Without hesitation, of course we said YES! He is a solid black, (incredibly small) 6 month old miniature jack that is as sweet as he can be already! He stands at just 27" tall. We look forward to adding him to our private petting zoo appointments very very soon! 🥰❤

We have miniature Scottish Highland 'fluffy' cows, miniature donkeys, dwarf goats, rabbits, horses, ducks and chickens! You will have the animals all to yourselves during your appointment.
