Sophie is here to educate you on common household pet dangers ⚠️🐶

Just a few common things you should keep OUT OF REACH of your pet are listed below!

Products include: ⬇️ 💊
• ibuprofen
• aspirin
• acetaminophen
• antidepressants
• to***co products
• pesticides
• compost

Foods include: ⬇️ 🥑
• avocados
• grapes
• raw yeast dough
• fatty foods
• xylitol
• macadamia nuts

Plants include: ⬇️ 🌷
• aloe
• corn plant
• elephant ears
• eucalyptus
• ma*****na
• tulips
• honeysuckle

Ingestion of any of these can lead to vomiting, diarrhea and lethargy; some of these can lead to respiratory distress and even seizures!

Spay now or PAY later! ❌🐶

We are seeing much fewer spayed females walk through our front doors. Some resulting in life threatening pyometras and others with mammary cancer! 👎🏼

You may find yourself wondering what on earth is a pyometra?!?
• It is an infection of the uterus due to hormonal changes from remaining intact.
*In simple terms, the uterus fills with puss. 🤮

The more heat cycles your female endures; the higher the risk for your pet to develop a pyometra. It can occur anywhere from 2-12 weeks after their heat cycle.

Clinical symptoms include:
• discolored +\- bloody vaginal discharge
• fever
• lethargy
• distended abdomen
• anorexia
• vomiting &/or diarrhea

If your pet ever experiences any of these symptoms within that time span after their heat cycle please call the clinic! This is an emergency & your pet will need an immediate emergency spay!

Other advantages of spaying your pet include:
• No heat cycles
• Unwanted pregnancies
• Elimination of hormones
• Limited pet overpopulation
• Prevention of the dreaded pyometra!!
• Reduced chance for mammary cancer

Another pressing concern of NOT spaying your pet is the risk for mammary cancer!

After your pet’s second heat cycle, the risk for mammary cancer is 8%-26% and only continues to increase with age.

Mammary tumors are not always cancerous, but incase of metastasis it is beneficial to have them examined soon after being noticed.

Spaying your pet prior to either of these potential complications results in better overall health & longevity for your pet. 😄🦮🩺

UPDATE: Daizy has found hew new home!!!

This precious girl is looking for a forever family. She wandered up to her current guardian’s home by Thornberry and they have not been able to locate her previous family after exhausting all efforts. It’s been a few months and now they have asked us to help find her the perfect family. She is around 6 months old and growing like a w**d; currently weighing in at 45 pounds. Gentle, sweet, great with kids and other dogs. Please reach out if you know the right family for her! 🐾🧡

Texas! Please pray for a winter. 🥶
We are still seeing so many flea infestations.

If you are wondering if your scratching dog or cat has fleas, but you never see an actual insect; then check for flea dirt!

Flea dirt is f***s left by fleas on the skin at the base of the hair follicle.

Rake the hair against the grain and if you see a potting soil like substance at the skin level ➡️ flea p**p!

Stop the stigma of thinking you don’t need flea prevention in these Texas Winters!
