Friends it’s HOT 🥵 outside!!! A good rule of thumb to go by is - if you won’t walk on the pavement barefoot, then your dog shouldn’t walk on it either!

To my human moms & dads, this is what happens to my paws when you take me out in the scorching sun ☀️ when the pavement is so hot !

Remember I sweat through my paws, so in this heat I can’t get rid of my sweat as my paws are burning. Missing my walk won’t harm me. Please let me just relax indoors and take me out when the sun is down🐾

If you see someone walking their dog on hot pavement, ask them to take off their shoes for the remainder of their walk home. Maybe then they'll understand.

Hey friends!

I know I haven’t been posting as much lately, life has gotten to me! These boys and baseball have me running 🤪

I did however, want to give a kennel update. We are retiring Sally and Millie. This is Sally’s last litter(the babies I currently have). Millie will be going to Brevard to make a little girl so happy! 🥰

Tail Chasing Tuesday...

In light of the recent searches in our area, I thought I would share a little info about dogs in reference to Search and Rescues (SAR).

A dog has to go through a very specific training and take a test to be SAR Certified. Due to this rigorous ~2year long training, a dog must exhibit certain qualities. Some of those qualities are confident and stable in temperament, mild mannered, not skittish to be around people or loud noises, motivated to work, and able to work for long periods of time.

Once the dog has completed the training, they will be paired with their handlers. Then the handlers and dog have to go through a much shorter training to learn each other. The handler alone also has to complete a training to also learn SAR and pass a test for certification.

SAR dogs are taught to use their sense of smell to locate the missing subject. The dog will be given something from the subject, typically a piece of clothing, to smell and then the dog will search with their handler until they find the subject. Once the subject is found the dog will bark to alert the handler.

The most common breeds of dogs used for SAR are German shepherds, Labs, Golden Retrievers, Border Collies, and Bloodhounds.

NC has many SAR resources, with and without dogs. As many of you know SAR is near and dear to our family and labs.

It is with sad news that I share my supplier has increased their prices. Therefore, I’ve had to go up on the 26/16 price as well. I have been able to keep the increase to a minimum though with an increase of $2.

26/16 is now- $57 per bag.

I haven’t needed to order either of the Marines yet, so I’m not sure of their increase, if there is one. I will let yall know as soon as I know something.

As y’all know I have recently started carrying dog food. Many of you have asked is it only for labs or working dogs.
