For those of you that know me well, you know I LOVE cheese. All types of cheese. Cow cheese, sheep cheese, goat cheese. Blue cheese, smoked cheese, cave aged cheese. If I didn't love my job at the vet clinic, I would likely own a cheese shop.
So when we had three litters all born within one week (a first!), I figured now was a great time to combine my love of cheese with my love of puppies. So all of the puppies will be named after cheeses.

Tilde x Kit
Tilde's first litter was born 08.18.2024, and she had five puppies.

08/22/2024

Our final litter for this month arrived today at 3 am via c-section. Nuptse was carrying a whopping SEVEN puppies and needed a little help bringing her Fuji babies into this world. Huge thanks to Dr Shaw for waking up to take my call, and proceeding to rush to the clinic for surgery. Nuptse and all seven pups are doing well so far. In all my years of breeding dachshunds, this is only my third time having seven puppies, which is the most pups I’ve ever had in one litter.

As always, pups are on hold for now! We are always accepting applications though if you may be looking to bring a pup home this fall.

Batura’s litter has arrived! Born yesterday, August 20th. Four puppies and ALL dapples! Yay! Batura and her babies are doing great. Rimo is the sire, so these puppies can be smooth or longhair.

As always, pups are on hold for at least a few weeks so we can make sure they thriving before we start going through the paid waitlist to accept deposits.

New photo taken today of Hayden, our longhair chocolate and tan male. Sire of the recent "Don Rosa" litter with Suvi. Such a handsome guy! And the biggest love bug. People come to meet our dogs in he'll climb right into their laps.

Of our three expectant girls, Tilde decided to go first, having her pups late last night. Now if you recall her xray, the puppy in the very rear of the image was small and less calcified than the other four. Sure enough, the first born puppy is tiny, weighing just 3.4 oz. So he’s less than half the size of his litter mates who are 7 to 8 oz. He’s my smallest puppy to date, actually. We’re supporting him as best we can, so cross your fingers he can pull through. Tilde and the other four pups are doing great.

As always, pups are on hold for at least a few weeks so we can make sure they thriving before we start going through the paid waitlist to accept deposits.

Stop your scroll.... just look at the wavy ears and eye lashes on this little guy!! Huey is longhair isabella and tan miniature dachshund. He had a home lined up, but through no fault of his own, it fell through. So he is now accepting applications! Please hit the share button for Huey.

Our final puppy count xray for the month. Batura x Rimo, due Aug 18th. This one is pretty straight forward, IMHO. With these girls all syncing up their heat cycles, we are going to be busy! I've never had two litters due at the same time before, let alone three. 😳

Our lovely girl Koussi recently developed a uterine infection known as pyometra and had to be spayed. So after having just two litters, she is now ready for retirement.

Koussi is a chocolate and tan dapple. She is 4 years and 4 months old. No known health issues, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. She has recovered well from her spay a couple weeks ago.

Koussi is an absolute love bug once she knows you and loves to cuddle, give hugs, and get belly rubs. She is good with other dogs, sort of middle of the road in terms of dominance. She is cautious of new people and new things, but has NEVER been aggressive. Worst case scenario, she barks. If other dogs come up to say hi to someone, she will too. Her leash skills are not great, as she's used to having a fenced in yard. Kous is wonderfully crate trained. She hasn't been around cats or kids. Please reach out if you feel like this fuzzy girl may be a good fit for your family.

The Biggie x Thunder Snow litter arrived on Saturday, July 20th. Biggie had two lovely puppies, one male and one female. Both mom and puppies are doing well.

I wish I could keep this boy! Fozzie Bear is a smooth cream dapple male miniature dachshund. He'll be nine weeks old and ready to go July 27th. He is absolutely fantastic. Equal parts playful and snuggly, crazy cute (have you SEEN his wrinkles?!), and outgoing. Someone is going to get really lucky with this great puppy. Can you hit the share button for Fozzie??

There is epidemiological data that early desexing does increase risk of IVDD in dachshunds. Females are at greater risk than males. Over 1000 dachshunds surveyed.

The “Fleetwood Mac” and “Luca” litters plus IOS from the “Apple” litter. Last day with all of them here before the “Fleetwood Mac” litter starts heading to their new homes.

The Luca litter is almost 6 weeks old. So darn cute!

I am just heartbroken. Lajuma gave birth to one stillborn puppy today. We thought she was expecting two, and upon ultrasound, looks like she resorbed the other. So we have no puppies to show from this pregnancy. 😭 Poor Lajuma. This is the first time I’ve ever had a dam not have a single pup to raise after a full term pregnancy. Makalu’s pregnancy is still going well. Fetal heart rates look good and you can even see gut motility on ultrasound (this is what the video shows), so whelping is imminent. And the last ultrasound news for the evening, Brava’s pregnancy is confirmed! So right now we have Maki due any moment, Massey due at the end of the month, and Brava due mid December. I can only hope these pregnancies end better than Lajuma’s. 😞
