I have a beautiful male German shepherd, neutered, 3 ½ yrs. old. Healthy. Up to date on everything. Professionally trained. Needs a new forever home.
His story:
He belonged to a client of mine and I have boarded and groomed him since he was a puppy. He got himself in trouble because he decided it was worth it to charge through his electric underground fence in order to chase the neighbor’s dog dog. Luckily the other dog was faster and got away. This caused an emergency situation for the owner and they decided they couldn’t keep him anymore.
He is a great dog but he is a dominate male shepherd and looks (and sounds) intimidating, even though he is super sweet. He needs a home and an owner who can manage him, who has the proper living arrangement and has plenty of time to give him lots of exercise and attention.
He is well trained in the house and on a leash. He gets along fine with my females and my older non aggressive male dog. He did live with a cat. He just seems curious about horses but I doubt he has been around any small livestock. So caution there.
He is well socialized with people and a great watch dog. He is a barker, not uncommon for shepherds, but if left outside, he will bark, and also if he has access to window and can see people and other dogs passing by.
Someone in a more rural area with a fenced yard would be ideal.
He heels, sits, stays, fetches etc. He is stubborn about come when he has something else he wants to do more. He needs some work on this before I would trust him off leash.
He alerts hard on small dogs and I would not trust him off leash in a dog park or public area where he might meet a small dog. We are also working on this.
I will be very selective about who takes him home. He is a great dog and he will make a wonderful companion for the right person.
