Rhabdomyolysis - Painful, Uncontrollable, Contagious Muscle Contraction. Reluctant to move, Lower back, gluteal, and thigh muscles become firm and painful. The gait becomes short and stiff. Excessive sweating, quick, shallow breathing, and an increased heart rate are observed, mimicking colic signs.
Start off your show season moving forward. Do NOT push your horse past their training level, keep them hydrated and always make sure they get rest. Tying-Up is extremely painful and happens more frequently than you might think. Contact your veterinarian, let them help guide you in the right direction.
