Today’s pet highlight is Gussy a gorgeous english Lab. He has a unique favorite activity, going to the vet ( second only to lounging on the couch)! Whenever he hears the word he runs to the car ready to come hang out with the veterinary staff😍

We have some new receptionists!! Meet Gigi and Oscar, a pair of possums who gave Dawn and Lisa a helping paw up front. Their hard work was rewarded with grapes and lots of snuggles🩵

Our incredible 4th-year veterinary student from the University of Illinois just finished a two week externship with us. Amanda has a very bright future ahead in veterinary medicine, and we loved having her as part of our team. Her new kitten, Inky, will be a constant reminder of all the memories made here. Wishing you all the best, Amanda, you’re going to do paw-some things!🐾

This weeks pet highlight is Buddy a 2 year old yellow lab! He is a professional tennis ball chewer, and is the softest snuggle bug. Here we have Buddy ready to head home for some extra love after his appointment 😍

At we approach the 4th of July the ISVMA has provided a few summer pet tips!

🎆Flea and Tick check: Make sure to get your pet in for heart worm tests and keep them on year round flea and tick prevention.

🎆Hot pavement, hot paws: If you won't walk barefoot on a hot sidewalk or street, it's too hot for your pet! Stroll through the cooler grass, if possible. Take walks early in the morning or later in evening, limit intense exercise, and take more frequent breaks.

🎆Stay cool and hydrated:For some of our furrier friends consider a cooler summer shave to avoids overheating. When outside for extended periods of time, make sure all pets have shelter from the hot sun and make sure they have access to clean drinking water.

🎆Pets in hot cars: Triple digit temperatures rise in a parked, non-air-conditioned vehicle in minutes … even with windows rolled down! Please leave your pet home on hot days.
