Cause For Paws Rescue located in Byron, Illinois

Cause for Paws Rescue is a licensed not for profit 501c3 animal rescue organization. All dogs in our program a fostered through our network of volunteers.

Cause for Paws Rescue is an all-breed rescue group made up of dedicated volunteers, who open their hearts and their homes to provide a safe haven for our orphans, who come to us from Animal Control, High-Kill Shelters and owner surrender situations.

Buddy is still waiting for his own family to come along! Buddy is a playing machine! He loves to play with dogs, people, toys, cats, etc!

On play breaks, buddy is the world’s best snuggler! He’d let you carry him around like a baby all day.

For Buddy, we are going to require a home with a fence. We would also love another dog for him.

Welcome to rescue!

We saw a notice about 4 pups in a rural pound set to be euthanized on Monday 1/6/25 due to their 5 day stray hold being up! We knew we could not let this happen!!! So we contacted the post Pound Pullers and she worked her contacts & we called our friends at Headed home in the heartland and they last minute pulled it all off to get these dogs to us! It took a village to get it done and we are so thankful to all these amazing people!

Now for the puppies!!! They are possibly lab mixes & estimated to be about 3 months old. They are weighing in close to 10 pounds.

Peanut is the biggest. He’s tan. Looks kinda like a black mouth cur. He’s so sweet and loves lots of cuddles! He’s also a big fan of food!

Pebbles is black with white paws. She’s the wild child. She’s the smallest body but has the biggest personality! She is an ankle biter but that’s just because she wants you to play with her! She loves toys!

Poppy is brindle with a little pop of white on her chest. She’s very sweet. She’s the most shy and quiet of the group.

Penny is brindle as well. She loves to play with her siblings! She also loves having her photo taken and poses so pretty!

They will be available for adoption after they get their next vaccine in a couple weeks but applications can be sent at anytime! Applications at causeforpaws.net

Omar is a male shih-tzu who’s about 6 years old. He came into rescue in very rough shape and super shy. He takes several days to warm up but once he trusts you, he is loving and playful!

Omar has since been neutered brought current on all vaccines, microchipped and on monthly flea and heartworm prevention. Omar has also had a much needed dental and finally his eyes, which were infected have now healed.

Omar will require a patient home as it takes him awhile to acclimate to new people. He is great with other small dogs but fearful of large dogs. He would make a great companion for a retired couple or person that is home more often than not. He also has little experience on a leash. Every thing is taking some time with our little guy, but for the right person, well worth it.

Wilson is our next puppy seeking a forever home. He was located as a stray by the Dekalb Police Department. Wilson is 8-10 months old and weighs approximately 40 pounds. His foster family has done a great job exposing him to other dogs, cats, and kids. Wilson is compatible with anyone who loves to play. He is crate trained and housebroken with a proper routine. Please allow Wilson to bring new year happiness for you and your family.

Welcome Ava!

Ava is a 2 year old female and looks to be a staffy/daschund mix but your guess is as good as ours! She is approximately 35 lbs. Ava adores people. She was pulled from euthanasia in November after being found as a stray in southern Illinois. Ava is crate and potty trained with the proper routine. She likes to play with other large dogs but can be dominant at times. Ava can’t live with small dogs or animals. She self entertains with toys and does not self-destuct. Ava’s past is entirely unknown but she is eager to please her owner.

Welcome to rescue Jake! This shy but sweet guy just came in to rescue yesterday. He’s already become a Velcro dog to his foster mom & really loves playing with the other dogs and cats! Jake is a chihuahua mix with a very cool Mohawk!

Jake was in a home where 20-25 dogs were removed a few years back. Jake was unfortunately left and hasn’t seen the outside in 4 years. This guy had awful long nails, smelled horrendous, and had fleas. He is estimated at 9-11 years old. He’s had several baths, vaccines, flea treatment, etc. we are going to get a heartworm test & f***l when we get a vet appointment. He also needs to be neutered.

We will let you know when Jake is ready for adoption! Thank you to the amazing people that rescued him from that house and got him safely to us and his foster home! We are forever grateful for these amazing people!

Cider is hoping to find her own home for Christmas! She’s so social and loving. She’s a mutt with an estimated adult weight of 40-45 pounds but it’s just a guess. We think there’s some beagle in there though!

She loves to play. She’s good on a leash. She listens very well.

She wants a home with another dog to play with! This is her one request.

If you are looking for a cutiepatootie for Christmas, look no further! We will even put a bow on her!
