Bentz Family Farmstead

Bentz Family Farmstead We are a small 5 acre family farm. Our focus is Faith, Family, Friends and Farm. We have horse, poultry, Kune Kune pigs, dogs and cats.

We raise and breed Registered Performance Nigerian Dwarf, Alpine and Nubian Dairy Goats We are a small 5 acre farm. We are 100% focused on the best quality care for our animals both on our property and when they leave for their forever homes. We do not sell any herd animals as individuals unless buyer currently already owns same species. All buyers have the option to view a fecal sample under micr

oscope displayed on laptop of their chosen animal. Fecals will be collected fresh in buyers presence. This gives you piece of mind knowing that you are not buying an animal with heavy worm load.. All vaccinations are given based on age appropriate needs. If goats are purchased near a vaccination time we send that goat with that vaccine.. This gives buyer time to purchase their own meds while keeping goats up to date. This is another way we can assure you that your selected animal(s) has received the best possible care( previous vaccinations on rescues or purchases from other farms may not be verifiable) Buyers are encouraged to join Goat Emergency Team on Facebook. All animals will have up to date vaccination records.. When purchasing goats we highly recommend buyers to watch a video on parasite control and maintenance. Wormx.com
We want our animals in the best possible care after leaving our farm. Any buyer that completes and passes the online Famacha certification will receive a $25 discount on pet price and a $50 discount on breeding stock. proof of certification is required to receive discount. prices vary depending on breeding pair and pedigrees. We offer fecal testing, ultrasound, breeding services, horse riding lessons, cart driving lessons and farm birthday parties.

Now that we are in kidding season I want to remind everyone that although we do not require a deposit, a deposit is the only way we will hold a goat for you.
All animals without a deposit placed are rehomed on a first come first served basis.
If a deposit is placed, that holds for 2 weeks unless another agreement has been made.
Animals that aren't picked up by 2 weeks or otherwise agreed upon date will go back up for rehoming.
Partial refund may be given but we reserve the right to refuse any refund of deposit.
Any refunds that may be given will be based on the individual situation, time and deposit amount.

I recently made a post in a group to help people spot or beaware that some people alter their biosecurity results. Many folks didnt read the post properly or at all and assumed I was saying I received altered results.
That was not at all what I was saying in my post. I made the post because it is happening to others..so just to be clear...
I have had a few goats pop up positive for cae on my recent test.
When I buy I get from tested herds.
I do not think that I was sold goats that were known positive.
There was a goat thats milk was fed to these positive goats as bottle babies. And that goat was also negative tested. But is currently positive(not my goat)
Keep in mind that negative today doesnt mean negative tomorrow.
I had one of these very kind sellers message me and offer me a refund because she thought I was pointing blame at her.
No sweet lady I dont blame you or anyone.
And I certainly don't think that anyone involved with the goats before I got them had any idea that cae would be a factor.
We made a mistake with the milk we fed these bottle kids..that is solely on us.
We do not keep cae positive goats on our farm.
If goats are non symptomatic they will go to a rescue home. If they are symptomatic then they will be hard culled.

I didn't realize that this wasn"t shared..We decided on Dec 4th that a Mercy Cull was best for our Sweet Princess Pepper.

Made the heartbreaking decision. Wasn't a hard decision because It was the right one to make.
Pretty Pepper was always the best goat. Not a mean bone in her body and she always took care of everyone's babies. If moms weren't looking out for them Pepper was.

First Bentz farm to Bentz Farm breeding and first time Sexy Rexy didn't get his job done so Molly was bred back to Cappi. So fine with that because they produced AMAZING kids last year

Pepper girl is still struggling to stand up on her own. I helped her up and she was able to walk around a bit sluggishly but gained a bit more mobilty as she went along. Pepper is gimpy due to a left shoulder injury as a kid.
She has no hops. Anyone that knows goats know they are known for their ability to jump with ease.
Her energy lasted about 10 minutes.
So I will periodically get her up and get her moving.
Even with a small heater in front of her and her body temp in normal range she is still shivering. That can indicate a few things so we are treating and keeping track.
Although she isnt head pressing or jaw grinding I do suspect she is in some pain as she does groan when she is lifted.
I suspect that she was rammed by another goat and is probably bruised.

Staying in the barn with Miss Pepper and I think I prefer being cold over the sound of her grinding her hay..
Still not sure what is going on with her so I am monitering her around the clock. I rarely leave her but if I do its just for a few minutes.

Our very first Bentz Farm on Bentz Farm breeding. Super Excited to see these kids.
Monkey has been shown 3x.
1st show as a dry yearling she placed first in a class of 32 and took Reserve Grandchampion.
2nd show she placed 4th out of 15 in her first ever milker class
3rd she placed 6th out of 26 or36 (cant remember lol. Just remember class was HUGE. Had to make 4 rows to line up) as a milker that dam raises her kids.
I have since learned how to get a show udder and stiil be able to let her raise her kids..so hopefully Monkey can go in the ring with a fancy "I raise my kids" udderšŸ¤£

My April born buckling got his job done.
Boy Scout Bred Darlin Oct 25th for a due date of March 24th..
Will do an ultrasound to get a count next weekend but I do believe I can comfortably say at least 2. ONE doeling will be retained if we are blessed and all other kids will be available.
